Fairlight is dead :)

No shit!? I never would have guessed...
Go ahead punk! Make my day...
the only way to make them do 64k again is would be doing a 64k that impresses them, I guess :)
demoscene, go back to the roots!
FairLight Rebels Razor 1911 Scoopex Goatse
Hands up, finnish demosceners who scrambled down Boozembly hill trying to find Smash's USB stick for fun and profit?
oh that's what happened..
last time I drove by there only the peak of the highest hill was left intact, everything else had been blasted and levelled..

Let's hope that "Blasted & Levelled" will be the title for Fairlight's upcoming 64k ;)
Seriously, I can very well understand the reasons for Smash quitting making 64k's. He's on top - there's no REAL competition - and he's been on top for quite some time now.
But hey, he didn't say he'd quit the scene, did he? Sure, one might say: all signs point to that....but do they? What if his reasons for stopping making 64k's is that he wants to take a break and be back with one killer demo? Or 4k?
But I'm curious, though.... It's SO close to the Fairlight 20th anniversary (next year in July, I think) that one might think/hope/fear that they're working on a gigantic release for the anniversary. For what reason? To say "It's been fun. Let's go out with a bang!" or "They thought we were going to die, but THIS proved them wrong!"?
Regardless of what, it'll be interesting to follow.

nutman: simple answer to the question is, we never stopped, we just stopped doing 64ks. :) time for a new challenge..
oh, and the exact 20 year anniversary of fairlight's birthday (altho the party will be later, in the summer) is april 17th 2007.. that's a week after breakpoint.
mmmmm.
