Documentaries that piss me off!

category: general [glöplog]

Has anyone else noticed that there are a load of documentaries that dont have a conclusion. Documentaries like "Do aliens exist?" or "Is psychic phenomena possible?" then they go into indepth interviews with scientists, run some questionable video footage, give a little history lesson, and then end without proving anything!!

I already know that aliens and psychic phenomena are doubtful, so why do I need to watch a documentary to tell me that? I mean seriously, why the fuck do people make documentaries without conclusions?

And why do documentaries and books go into unnecessary details? I.e. "This is Derek Cock, he is a physicist at PISS. PISS is an anagram for Psychic Institute for Science Studies. It was founded in 1973 by Arthur Dildo, who investigated blah blah blah..."

The conclusion I usually reach from this is that there are science labs all over the world taking tax payers' money, messing around and proving NOTHING!

I'm frustrated because it's just so frigging hard to learn something these days without having to wade through tonnes of trivial and meaningless bullshit!

School, college, university and many "educational" books are exactly the same - 99% waffle and 1% useful facts.
I meant acronym not anagram btw.
BASS!!!
"I meant acronym not anagram btw."

Your bad, I did not read your post, but here are some anagrams on your name:

A FEEL SHHT NOW
A HOT NEW SHELF
THE "AN ELF SHOW "
A HEN FELT SHOW
SHE-FAWN HOTEL

Shane: I don't like these kind of crappy documentaries either. But as you said "I already know that aliens and psychic phenomena are doubtful, so why do I need to watch a documentary to tell me that?". The problem is that in anglo-american countries things are not going that well.

In USA for example, more than 50% of people is convinced that e.t. DO EXIST without any clue of why.

I guess these kind of documentary purpose is to bring back uncertainty and therefore, the begining of a scientific reflection in those retarded brains.

We have no scientific proof that ETs exist whatsoever (so far).

However, Pouet proved long ago and the scientific way that trolls do exists.

All the more serious documentaries/conferences about UFO's tend to be quite boring so not many watches them... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsLj2ScRkFo

For various political and historical reasons there were very many, very bright Hungarian scientists working on the Manhattan Project and a rumour went around, a joke, that Hungarians are actually aliens and as proof of that was their weird language and their super-human intelligence.

1.show how far they have got, trying to get more to look into it
2.to get money off from the gullible without an oldschool relegion

The nature of research. Show me the data!
It may be irrelevant for the casual viewer, but for those it was intended at, it is much needed data to proceed with. No serious researcher into anything claims to have the full truth of all, and if he did he should be a laughing stock. The idea is to put your htesis forth, and show all sources, so people who disagree or are curious can find errors in the research, or verify.

Not all science is gov founded. But other than that i agree. Lately we were told that the danish people are as much as 3 times more happy than black people living in zambia.....NO SHIT!!!
But who the fuck gave them money to figure out the obvious, and what did it cost?! :[
There are so much useless research going on its not even funny, and then again. Research isnt linear. Tesla figured out a coil, another guy could use the idea to make a tube tele. Usefull things have often come from what seems like the most ludicris of ideas to begin with. So as much as i hate this money wasting garbage, i altso realise that its merely a sword with 2 edges because sometimes, "fucking great" comes out of it. So why tell us about how much money we pay for fuck o??? i have no idea =/

They were designed like that, but dont take my word for it, im nuts. It makes people with an education belive they are smart and cant be wrong. Education merely makes you educated, it doesnt make you smart. And most "education" seems to be someone filling up your head with his ideas and concepts, and then at some point will reward you according to how well you parrot his stuff back to him.

No word in history has been as misused as "education", not even relegion.

There is a really great documentary on Ghosts here. It takes a more scientific approach.

It's only 9 minutes but is definitely worth watching!!

If a documentation is well made, it will tell you about both sides, the possible views on the topic and show you several people telling very different opinions. It's up to the people who watch it to draw conclusions. It should give you all the material you need to _think_ about it and then you will come to conclusions yourself. It's called critical thinking. Usually there is no absolute "yes" or "no". It's somewhere in between.

I personally dislike biased documentaries where everything is laid out and the general tone is "don't think about it, just believe what we say".
