ASM06 seminars
category: general [glöplog]
Gents & Gals,
please find information about the forthcoming ASSEMBLY '06 ARTtech
seminars at http://www.assembly.org/seminars
You can treat yourself to great sessions by speakers from game
companies (e.g. Remedy Entertainment), film makers (Star Wreck),
hardware manufacturers (e.g. Creative Labs).
If you are planning to get into making games, I'd especially
recommend Saturday's sessions which cover the gamut from getting a job
into starting your own business and succeeding with it.
Looking forward to seeing you at ASM06 - in a month!
P.S. Oldskool tickets still available at https://tickets.assembly.org

please abyss, are there plans to made the ASM05 seminar videos available ???
Seems really career and professional life-oriented this year.. where are all the cool coding seminars?
256: Yup, we'll get those (eventually) online.
Preacher: last few years have been quite a lot of coding centric, so I guess it is time also for something else. Also, I think a few of the people who often do the "cool coding seminars" might want to take a rest this year =).
Finally, if people want to do cool coding seminars, I'm all ears - email me =).

i heard a rumour about a certain someone doing a seminar on PSP h4XX0RinG but he doesn't appear to be listed there
abyss > it's good news ! thx
As some people with a low bandwidth would have little chance to download the videos from the seminars, I hereby also make the offer to publish text-based versions of the seminars in the Hugi Magazine.
Tomcat's profile was refreshing.
adok > i can't wait to read it !!!
no please quit the scene
kthxbye

papapete: that person has gone awfully quiet lately. I've tried getting in contact with him again, but he might have just decided not to do it.
papapete: finally got touch with TyRaNiD. There will be indeed be a 2 hour session on PSP hacking at ASM. Be there or be a ^2.
Seminars we can have at work and uni..what's wrong with just a good old drinking armageddon and some naked finnish guys?
I believe that seminars have been the greatest innovation in the demoscene since rasterbars.
Nothing wrong with drinking, if that's your thing (and you do it at Boozembly). Seems though that there is plenty of demand for seminars over the five years we've held those at ASM.
For me at least demoscene isn't just about socializing (& drinking =)), it is also about getting better at what your are already good at and doing even cooler stuff than before (what ever your definition of cool is). A lot of people come to listen to seminars to get something new for themselves to walk away with.

reid: there'll be plenty of drinking and naked finnish guys anyway.

abyss: but drinking is what I'm good at :(
i have to second abyss on the getting better/seminar-issue!
i wish i could attend this years assembly-seminars, they really openend my eyes three years ago when i first visited the party, i instantly knew that this was the way i wanted to expand breakpoint featurewise...(thank you abyss!)
and dont get me wrong, but the whole massive "socialising" thing happening at the parties lately is more or less an excuse for old farts getting even older: too lazy to actually get in the mood of beeing excited or getting inspired by the atmosphere to be productive on the party...and i have to admit, its hard to get into the right mood when everyone is just drinking and chatting about everything else but demos..so double-hoorray for the seminars! they helped me a lot to keep on the right track! and i'm quite sure many sceners feel this way.

Obviously, the joke didn't hit the spot.
Will the semniar captures be downloadable after ASM06 ??
That session with Mikko Hyppönen was very interesting.
Would like to rehearse it in a better quality than on ASM-TV ;)

Gizmo: BAH! I'm still _6_ mentally you hear me? SIX!
Tyranid's seminar was very well done I must say, and I would really like to see the asm2006 and ALSO the asm2005 seminars. Please let me know where I need to send request emails, or ask how I can help getting them available faster.
After all, when it comes to procrastinating, no one, and I repeat, NO ONE, can beat my record for Deep Lard 7. So they can just stop trying to out procrastinate me now, and release them (:
