Why are politicians so fockin ugly?

What's the deal? Is it part of the criteria that you must be ugly to be a politician? What's worse is that when some politicians aren't genetically ugly enough they try to make themselves more ugly with stupid hair styles, combovers, thick glasses or by starving or overeating.

People don't elect a beautiful people because they are jealous. If the person is beautiful (and probably rich) one does not want to give them power as well.

Perhaps people subconsciously think that ugly people are more intelligent, who knows. Or maybe they vote based on other qualities than looks.

You both have valid points, but to be honest if someone like Kiera Knightly or Liv Tyler were up for election they would get my vote just because they're hot! They can't do much worse than current world leaders and at least I'd actually enjoy listening to them spout politics!
