I got an iBook G4 some months ago and it bring me back that "Amiga" feeling I lost with PCs...
I'm REALLY happy to own that little box, everything is polished and well designed, both hardware & software.

Lot's of people talked already about OSX, it was a revelation from me, I never been so excited to use a system since I bought my Amiga 1200 and tested the Workbench 3.1...

There's tons of GREAT freeware, cool apps, widgets, etc... and can do everything I was doing on PC (except of course running PC demos... for the moment).

I think people who don't like Apple computers are people who never tried it for REAL :)

I was Amigaist but i think Atari are good machines too :)

I just tried MacBook Pro (dual core 1,83GHz with ATI GPU). A coworker has it. It is slow. He complains about the machine being slow and not everything works. He says he really wants a PPC mac laptop but "this is the only thing Apple is selling now" he said. "I think it will take a couple of years before they ported everything".

but then again, ALL laptops are slow. I have NEVER seen a fast laptop

Yup, the GMA 950 isn't terribly exciting and isn't to my knowledge OpenGL 2.0 capable, but then OS X doesn't support GLSL anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

However, a few months after I gave up trying to find a small laptop with a real GPU, one appears; the LG TX (which has a GeForce Go 7400). C'est la vie.

If someone wants portability and pixels, have a look at the TX.

I wrote this fucking long reply and a response to psychads negative input about laptops but I was of course logged out before I finished so I'll write this instead.

I think next generation macbook pro will be great...first generation always suck.

Psychad: Buy a laptop with a nice CPU, fast harddrive (7200 rpm ide/sata) and a good GPU that doesn't share its memory with the RAM. If you still find that laptop slow I want to know what kind of computer you use to compare with because I sure want one.

That xnote tx laptop is cute, however it seems to be targeted to the asian market and my guess is that it will be quite hard to buy one of those in europe.

Yes, Apple to stop selling their computers seems like a smart move, it's only 55% of their revenue after all. The trend of them selling more and more computers has to be a sign that they should stop!

FYI their second best quarter ever since the start in the 1970's was reported two weeks ago. They might have a low market share compared to Microsoft Windows (though not that small compared to most PC hardware manufacturers) but they do good money on it, which most PC manufacturers fail to do. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but the idea with business is to make money, right?

So, care to explain the logics from a company/shareholder persepctive with removing over half the company income?
