RIP Steve Jobs

flash in all its glory... 1min preloader for that... :)
Macromedia called. They'd like their DRM back.
@ringo: I'm afraid I don't really understand the argument. How death of one man makes death of another less significant? I had no idea about Ralph Steinman until now, thanks to your information I see now that he was doing great service to the mankind. I'm sure a lot of people who knew him, worked with him or based their research on his results, are lamenting his death too. But what does it have to do with RIP Steve Jobs thread? Lamentation is sentimental, it does not have practical value.
I guess if you really want to die in fame, don't become a scientist.

nonsense! soon i'll be a fucking famous scientist!
My point svo was this - 1 of those men had shrines built around their places of business all over the world soon after their death. The other 1 actually did something other than sell shit. Yet I doubt anyone setup any candle-light vigils for him - just being a scientist & all.
SJ got everything that he earned & was deserved.

I know some quite wealthy people. They're pretty normal to be honest.
I imagine most billionaires behave relatively normal in social settings, but the workplace is a different matter entirely. You can't run a large company without being at least slightly tyrannical. Comes with the territory.
A leader have to be though, or else the employees will play warcraft/solitaire all day, or be on facebook.
.
Expecting the media to praise somebody they've never heard of, who created a programming language they've never heard of and an OS they've never used: silly.
(Even if they're sat at a unix-based mac running software largely written in C or a variant).
They say a lot of van gogh's style comes from the paints he used, which were newly invented at the time. But who gets 99.999% of the credit, the guy who created the tools, or the artist who put them to use and in front of the public?

Psonice, you are a brave man. Prepared to be flamed to bits.
(also, you are right and both deaths are equally tragic and everyone saying differently is an idiot not worth debating)

@hadesbox: I'm born in 1975 but I know who is Henry Ford and what is a Ford T, even if it was made 67 years before my date of birth :)
btw you are true at same time, when you speak about "Game Boy" to young child (under 10) they absolutely don't know what is it.
sounds awesome to us isn't it? :)

Wonder how many bbcode fuckups dmr had compared to SJ.

silly expectation indeed. a media-driven culture, disseminating truth, depth of understanding and valuing substance over presentation? what an amazing world we would live in, populated by bright beings.
instead we have idiots feeding idiots feeding idiots...etc
ringo: oh for fuck's sake, get over it.
