Demoscene Outreach Tour 2007
category: general [glöplog]
Sorry for the mess, guys, but since future American sceners could very well read this thread ("outreach", remember ?), I just couldn't let them believe that we're a bunch of retarded people full of bile. We are better than that.
So end of discussion. :)

axel: word.
bloody internet, it's made thousands of people believe their opinions on any particular issue of the day are actually worth spurting out in public.

I bet Zest is a truther aswell.
zest: don't be a player hater. why don't you take your own trip to the us sometime? the dollar's as low as it's been in decades - it's a bargain. live experience beats internet ranting.
smash : And spitting in the face of potential newcomers doesn't help to recruit new blood in the scene, either... :)
tomsawyer: americans on pouet? no fucking way!
don't worry, i know you're not all a bunch of retarded people full of bile. only some of you. :)

zest: "too bad the American Dream has been burnt and dead since the vietnam & iraq wars."
what do you think Archmage meant when he used the _figure of speech_ "the American Dream"? Hmm? Maybe Smash was right? Maybe you aren´t old enough to know the history of that expression.
Sawyer: why don´t you just acknowledge that your elected political representatives are criminals and move on. There´s nothing wrong with admitting it. All americans I´ve met so far in my life have been friendly intelligent people, don´t destroy this impression, please.

I think Sawyer is actually French.
Hyde : h4haha you again, the priceless troll... :)))
I'm French, not american, so I don't think I can feel anyhow concerned by your rant. :D But that was nice to try... :DDD

/me can't wait until steeler/gloom/gargaj get back so we can close the clueshoppe portion of this thread..
in my mind you will always be american, sawyer.
Tom: there is a major difference between studies/travels when you're young, and post-studies jobs when you have to face your citizenship duties. The more students are travelling, the better it is for global understanding and tolerance and science and progress etc. but leaving your families and motherlands in order to live the american dream your whole active life is kinda... selfish.
i know america is a land of immigrants, historically from europe, but you can't deny the current problems of global economy, tax difference, national prides, family cell explosion and so on.
Hyde: my original post was supposed to be a half-funny down-tempo trollage, i don't know Archmage to know what he really means.
Phoenix: i've gone to the US east coast and splendid central landscapes several times, i've always been warmly welcomed, the Americans are usually very nice people and the fact that i've seen them in real life has made me think that the american dream is a dangerous bogus trick. Funny how you can't attack US government or US way of life without being accused of anti-US hatred and facing personal attacks! but hey i've got used to it and maybe a few sceners around feel irritated because they do actually feel inside their hearts a buried shame towards theirs origins. (no smiley)

Your mind seems to be a bit stiff, though... :)
The last one was for Hyde... :D
btw don't get me wrong : i'm not targetting the outreach tour guys at all, either the cool posse of steeler/gloom/gargaj or their hosts, this is an excellent operation to be congratulated in my own opinion.
i guess i was just a bit bitten by how the demotrip blog told how much cool is US paradise, like any travel blog... those words were sincere i'm sure, but i had to spit my words about the US mirage :p

My point was merely that Jekyll looks a dream. And he happens to have made an American of himself. Hell, he even started his own whale massage clinique. Which is not very Norwegian at all.
So the right expression should of course have been: "Jekyll looks like a million bucks". That would have saved the world from another pouet argument.

I'm willing to compromise, if we can just agree that he looks damn handsome.
We can. How can we fight and argue when there is so much beauty in the world.

< i should post here a google image of a sexy californian jogger but lunch pause is not enough for pouet trolling >
