What you did wrong is to be distracting yourself with a forum in your wroking hours. I mean, I really doubt that it is legitimate to watch demos at work, but well, you say that it is "for inspiration"... lets think that is ok.

But why do you enter in the pouet bbs after watching the inspiring demos? Why don't you just watch the demo, get inspired and continue working?

All of this does kind of raise the question of what the pouet bbs is supposed to be about. Is it a scene related forum or some kind of 4chan franchise?

I think jaydaly is right to be pissed off too. For any of us that opened that thread (not me fortunately!) those images are likely to be in some cache somewhere. If somebody by some coincidence happens to see them, you could be in very serious shit - even if you're innocent, you're likely to be branded a paedo for a long time to come.

psionice: And for that you can blame whoever made the original pictures, whoever kept them in his collection of 6000 random pictures (or whatever that was), ATH500 for hotlinking to all those pictures without checking them first, and the hysterical legal system that can put you in a difficult position simply for accidentally seeing something you didn't even want to see.

But I don't get how you can blame Pouet. It's just a message board. The pictures were removed, ATH500 is probably banned or will be any day now, and the CP police have been notified. What more could you ask for?

doom: i pretty much agree with you there, but i think it is actually indicating a problem here. It's an extreme case maybe but this kind of thing isn't all that rare on pouet, and if it's got to the point where somebody thought it was ok to post such stuff maybe we've let things slide a bit too far? I'm all for freedom of speech and a fun & open bbs, but this is supposed to be a scene site, not a place for sick shit.

I don't blame the legal system btw - if somebody has child porn on their HDD, that shit needs to be checked out carefully. It's the hysterical media causing the problems I think. If somebody visiting this site took their laptop in for repair, there would surely be "man caught with thousands of child abuse images" headlines, followed by a media witch hunt.

And yeah, I certainly do blame the people hosting the pics, ath500, etc. Lets hope the CP police do their work :)

One thing I do agree with that also got to me was the lighthearted reactions to this post. It's been over a week now and those pictures are still playing on my mind. I guess we all go through life with a blinkered view. We know this kind of activity exists, but as long as we don't come into contact with it we can get on with our lives as normal. Although they were just pictures I saw (as opposed to actually seeing those horrors first hand or being a victim of them) it really does bring the dark side of humanity into focus and makes you realise just how vile and cruel some people can be.

I can understand Jadaly and anyone else wanting someone to pay for this because I felt exactly the same. The way I felt when I saw those images I really just wanted to lash out and kill those responsible...if only they were within reach. So when your temper is high and you have people on here taking a flippant attitude towards it, then it can be very aggravating. Not only are they appearing to condone child porn and rape, but it seems they find it amusing.

As hateful as these people are, a campaign to close Pouet won't help because these are the very people who wouldn't care. They'd just move to another forum and eventually ruin that.
