my 3d-engine is a polygon-spitter. i don't send pixels to my favorite 3d-api. in theory the 3d might aswell me shaped by goats in a swimmingpool instead of pixels on a screen.

The dot landscape from FC's Unreal was pretty sweet too.

The waving mesh in Boost (the blue one that comes towards the camera) is one of those effects that I keep watching and still surprises me :)

The Tribes particle scene (the one with the boy flying a few feet from the floor) always impresses me, too :)
