Okkie, I do hope that the band Smashing Pumpkins didn't get their name from a Doom cheatcode :P
scali: no, but they found it quite cool that they where mentioned in a way that they put the sound of a rocket blowing up a barrel on one of their album (in between songs).
the whole SPISPOPD think happend on messageboards hyping Doom. Someone thought'you can hype any game if you put enough effort in it' and started hyping SPISPOPD (a game that didn't exist ofcourse) until a lot of people actually believed that that game would even beat Doom. The guys at ID where amused by this and used that name in the game as cheatcode.
Later the game SPISPOPD is actually made by some guys and involves pumpkins and a huge fucking hamer :)

Smashing Pumpkins is what you do at Halloween.
It's like tipping cows. Except, it involves fewer cows.

Then again, it involves more pumpkins
'Cept eating cow pies is not recommended.

I've also developed a new sound program. It has many features: echo,
reverb, filtering. The filtering can be used for noise reduction and
unlimited bass enhancement.
BASS!
Heh jeenio is the thread-bumper #1!
btw, the lucky candidate #3 in the first post by ps is in ISO-2022-JP encoding, I think. Posting it to this forum messed up the encoding, but if you still have the original mail and switch your eMail-client to ISO-2022-JP you could copypaste the text to Google Translations (japanese->english) and probably get any sense out of it.... although actually japanese->english machine translations are quite sucky and mostly don't make sense.
