love the photographers indeed :-)
love the photographers indeed :-)
also, thanks for all the positive comments!
and also for the suggestions for improvements... it is easy to forget that we can indeed do better after having had such an overwhelmingly successfull weekend... we will not sit still and jerk off to what we achieved so far- far from it, if there's any minor (or major) thing we can improve (be it food service, pickups, competition rules, or anything else) we WILL go full steam ahead to improve in those areas next year! so keep those comments coming in, without knowing your opinions, good or bad, we have no chance to improve! :-)

Unofficial or not, ascii and ansi compos are always welcome.
zefyros: ask truck about it, he organized/showed/whatevered it.
maali: yeah, i know. regardless, such compos are always welcome.
havoc .. 2 things .. first
THANK YOU for throwing bastard words in my face about no danes have been to a dutch party! .. it was a blast! ;) (since we wouldn't have come, if you haven't said that)
second .. one thing you did perfectly was the prize ceremony - every party should do compos earlier and then do prizes afterwards .. genius .. at went home earlier than ever before and got past the "could-have-been" horrible german traffic before it was there. You should really teach the breakpoint staff 1 or 2 things about this.
.. but buy for KRACHT for next year, you will need it ;)

"ik heb er de KRACHT niet meer voor"
btw dwarf, did you paint your donkey brown already?

dwarf: the whole ceremony thing being during the last night was actually devised out of necessities you pointed out -people with early planes to catch would then too know their entry won something and actually would have the chance to take their loot with them :)
Demoparties tend to get out of control on the last evening with a lean mixture of partying and alcohol, so people tend to sleep through voting deadlines all the time. Besides, as Skrebbel once quipped: it's ridiculous to sit on results for hours when you can just generate them at the touch of a button.

yes, thanks to all prganisers for the great party once again! it's my 4th outline in a row, and i am sure that even if i should quit scene completely, i will still go bbq'ing and smoking to outline! =)
one thing that puzzled me a bit: in earlier outlnie editions, people used to cheer for the "nominees"/winners, calling their names rhythmically - i thought this was an atari scene custom, since i never experienced it at any other demoparty (and outline is the only atari-dominated demoparty i've been to). this time, it was different. why? were the atari sceners somehow daunted by the presence of too many pc sceners? just wondering...

dwarf: you said it, I already commented to elfan about that pic, and I wasn't even there ;)

I guess you're referring to the French Atarisceners chanting "Dma, Dma!" - Dma SC was there, but there weren't so many other Frenchies this time around, at least not the shouty ones.
There were about the same sort of number of Atari people at Outline compared with other years, maybe with a few missing. The increased numbers for this year were probably extra pc sceners, but we didn't feel daunted in any way by this :-)
Havoc: i think the only (!) thing i could suggest would be some fruit or other healthy stuff at the bar. I know, i know :) could've just gone to the shop myself, and in fact topy was kind enough to bring some.
De Em Ah, De Em Ah!
You have do it 'ala Français' :)
You have do it 'ala Français' :)
farfar .. and maybe we could get some haircuts and manicure while we were at it .. and dress each other up in some nice dresses and jewellery
Remind me to kick you next time we meet :)
Slap him with a whale cock.

then i am glad i said it- some co-orgos kicked my ass for being too harsh in my statements, i figured it was worth a shot anyhow. would love to see you guys again!

it's a tradition for us to do it this way, as shifter correctly quotes skrebbel,
Quote:

that is the truth- although we also managed to do the prizegiving within a few hours after the compo in the years before we had automated voting. counting paper votes doesnt need to take a lot of time either- if you organise it properly, ofcourse :)

i'm not sure if "daunted" is the correct term, but i did hear from various sources that some things may have been misinterpreted by a few people. case in point, during the showing of the atari demos, esp the killer entry by checkpoint, a couple people walked in front of the beamer. only later on it became apparent that this was partially because these individuals intended to congratulate defjam on his work. but this was ofcourse not clear for ppl standing in the back of the room. we are still contemplating various solutions for this issue.
concerning the shouting of names, that was indeed a tradition mostly upheld by some french sceners, who were not present this time round.

we had apples and bananas for the brunch, and also handed out a few during "normal working hours". i don't see any reasons not to expand on this. okkie, please make a note for next year's shopping list! :)
if you add more fruit, please do add some foamy bodyscrup shampoo as well, I sense someone might need it during the party while having a fruitbreak ;)
(besides all the farfar bashing, it actually is a good idea)

next year needs more brown falcons instead of grey ones!

Consider it done. The fruit at the brunch was a firsty this year as well, so good that it was successful. I'll also make sure to sell non-fizzy fruit juice and other stuff at the bar next year!
(Hell, we made the women happy by selling wine this year! Howzat for reaching out to da laydeeees!)
My biggest critique of the party is probably the food. The stuff we got in the evenings was pretty much junk, and besides that the noodles/cookies didn't do a very good job keeping me happy. The fruit thing was good, but they were out of bananas when I asked for one (that's alright thought, at least you tried).
I think that it would be nice to experiment with meals for everyone at the party. For example, a really big bowl of spaghetti with sauce - even if it takes a while to make it is pretty fool proof, and it is decent enough for a few days in a row. Downside: Dirty dishes.

Dirty dishes, dirty mind.
Outline 2009 - Outside Exposed + 303f :)
I have to agree with Graga about the ordered food.
The first round of food was absolutely terrible. But we didn't want to say anything at the time because we were so fucking hungry we'd eat anything, and eating something and then complaining would have looked stupid.
But yes, it was awful, rubbery and cold, and what I got as Shoarma certainly wasn't what someone next to me got as the same dish... ewww :)
Anyway, that's the only point I'd say and that really lay with the eatery, not the orgas. Perhaps take your business elsewhere next time because you certainly did not get value for money despite the 'discount'.

Zyps' shoarma was very lightly colored compared to the other people who ordered the same meal. It almost looked like something else, on the opposite end of the scale.
My pizza both nights I ordered was like a rubber frisbee. There was barely any cheese on it, although the little amount of the blue cheese that was on it at least had some flavour. I was disappointed both nights, but I was so hungry that at the time, it barely mattered.
If it's the same place next year, we'll be taking our own food.
