Why can't animations compete in the music compo?

Excuse me, but what is your point Scamp?

Ok, another try: Because Amiga PPC demos do not run on PCs (at least not according to our definition of a PC, which is a Intel-based machine running a version of Windows NT).

You mean... Linux demos are _not_ permitted in the PC compo?!?!?

(just kidding :-)

btw, I would really like you to show us demos running on Windows NT 4.0 and earlier... :-P

You really should go read the rules instead of bothering scamp :)

Excuse me, I was just trying to turn an awfull thread into a horrible one. Apparently it didn't work. :-)

This so asks for an "AMD excluded from BP" thread ;-)

First of all - Scamp: It wasn't my intention to present your comments in a different meaning. That's a sort of RAW-alike scandal journalism I never wanted to do. And yes, maybe my article was a bit harsh.

Let's see how your concept will work out and let's then think about an interview after BP took place (if you are interested) and you had enough time to re-fill your energy. I've been a party organizer of a pretty small party in the end of the 90s in Cologne and I know how much work it is.

the ANSI/ASCII people haven't complained about the fact there's either no compo or only the graphics compo.

That's cuz there is the unofficial Ansi/Ascii compo for BP. It's been announced on the irc channels and on appropriate message boards. And now, it's been announced here.
We need more Falcon/CT60 Compos, Plus/4-256KB+SID Compos, Vic-20+27K RAM, AtariXL/320KB Compos, C64+SuperCPU Compos, Pentagon-Only Compos, Megadrive+MegaCD+32X Compos....

...Yes...But who has all these Machines ready for a compo?
And who of these has the nerves to do the Organizing job?

Let's rather stick to "Normal" Machines instead of the hype with the "Pimp my Computer"-Compos...

There's still a Wild Compo or "Console". It should be rather called "Oldschool Machine Compo" since there won't be any XBOX360 or PS3-Demos really soon...

Exin: I dont think Oldskool machine compo is really appropriate, and I reckon 360 demos will arrive quite quickly.. as for ps3.. I cant see it happening in the next few years, well nothing that actually uses the hardware properly... or ever, its a complex system - but saying that I will probably eat my hat, who knows!

The only really memorable prods using PPC were the Potion intros anyway.
