benchmarks and pouet?
category: general [glöplog]
I know the opinion of most freaks about that. But there are still some very interesting unsupportet cost free benchmarks that fit very well to demo scene.
So tell me what you think about posting those benchmarks here?
Vulpine GL-Mark
Codecreatures Benchmark Pro
GLXS
Realstorm Benchmark
Dronezmark
I opened this thread as I massively got bad comments when posting stuff like this. (example 3D Mark 99)
And please don't kill me for asking that. ;)

While we're at it, we could add VJ systems and random flash experiments on the Web.. or how about all those random tutorials on different CG subjects?
I found this really amusing picture in the internet.
It so deserves to be here.

shifter: picture?
seppjo : i translate here what preacher and shifter told you in a metaphoric way : "get over it, noone wants that shit on pouet".
Oh, and i'll say it, too :
"Get over it, noone wants that shit on pouet".

preacher:
:D Thank you for this constuctive answer. lol (very useful one)
Thats what i expected.
Please, take this thread as a possibility to talk about it and argue why you think so. Not to make an endless "throw with shit" discussion. There's nothing to win or loose. I'm not going to make this mistake again.
To me those are more than "just influenced" by demoscene. They have nice code, gfx, some of them good music aso. The listed ones above are already dead on game scene. Why do you feel offended when somebody asks this?

GLExcess had actually a nice demo feeling instead of all those benchmarks who aim at gamers :p
irokos:
ok so I shut up :D
you all get angry here very fast. take some baldrian to get happy guys. thanks for your translation. :D I tought it was a real suggestion by preacher. ;)

pouet is already filled with loads of shit so if any of the above is made by demosceners yeah why not
EviL:
Do not think it really is in relation when it was made by demosceners. The result of it self makes it fit to demoscene or not.
Zest:
yes, this one made me happy. I got a demoscene feeling by watching it.

This isn't exactly on-topic... but I'd like to see seminars from parties on pouet. Demotools are already on pouet.. and I think seminars (particularly those from demo events) are actually more in the scene spirit, since you use them to improve yourself and do work in a more personal way.
Perhaps it would encourage more parties to include them (and capture them), and more people to present them. For example, there are some videos around from ASM'93 and '95, and from Breakpoint 05, 06, 07. Some are quite nice.

Whoops. I meant ASM '03 and '05 ;) (likely a freudian slip for asm'93.. I was a big second reality fan)
the only ESSENTIAL seminar is Uwe Boll's one at last BP :D
bigcheese: Why? Pouet is a PRODUCTION database. Everything else you can get from Scene.org or similar. Pouet is cluttered enough as it is.
What gloom said (and enough with the benchmarks)

But we are a bunch of bitter fold men that like to wave our canes and scream at the kids on our lawn!
They *are* really annoying though.
fold is ofcourse old, except when you are Ben Folds, than you could maybe be a bitter Folds man.
