Demo platform: Commodore 64 Direct to TV me beautiful

category: general [glöplog]
This seems cool to hack. Has anyone done a demo for this thing?

I'll buy one if I can't find a C64. It's not the same, but it's diferent :)

Which version should one buy?
That is, which one is it that gets the demos, the NTSC (because it was first on the market) or PAL?

ntsc is for nazis.

You need to connect it to a TV: PAL. :)

i think the demos (that have been released so far) require an ntsc c64dtv

I've been reading about it... hacks and stuff... and I'm impressed. It can be a great demo platform :)
I'll buy one if I find one cheap.

I'm in Japan... does anybody know an online store that can send one here? All the sites I've gone to have either the PAL version only, or only ship within Europe...

the pal version is supposed to be switchable between pal and ntsc and has some improvements , but can have the downside of messed up colors due to switched resistors, which can be fixed http://www.kahlin.net/daniel/dtv/colorfix.php

Btw, we need a C64DTV platform on Pouët. There's more C64DTV releases out there than for some of the existing platforms like Atari Jaguar.

i have to say that the dtv joystick is not so good, a few games of winter & summer games and it already seems to be damaged a bit.

Doesn't DTV use microswitches? All the best sticks of the 1980s used microswitches which made them pretty damn durable, I think.
No, the DTV does not have microswitches :-(
IMHO a "joystick-logo" would fit the DTV more.
I have read this that company has sold 750 000 C64DTV at one day.I think In the world is big retro community and spirit... Why that toy companies are not producing onechip FPGA retrocomputers? 750 000 at first day... that is awesome.
