the masters of lameness.

category: general [glöplog]
i have to say that lamerfest has the most lamest organisers ever. they practically banned *all* sceners with productions from the partyplace, 7 minutes after the party had officially started.
why?
because we had open beer bottles. we weren't even drunk yet.

Alcohol, and other drugs legal or not, is forbidden in most parties, why do you whine ? you knew that, don't you ?

No alcohol is also no solution
I’ve already looked for it again
No Alcohol is no solution
It would work, but it wouldn’t work well.
well, what can you expect... it's lamerfest ffs.

besides, at finnish parties alcohol is usually allowed :)

If you want to booze, what's wrong with a pub?
P01: you mean alcohol is ALLOWED (and encouraged ;) at most parties...

parties with alcohol prohibited are sooooo wrong!... come to germany, here you can drink at least beer at EVERY demoparty.

Ugh... everyone deserves a warning before being thrown out.
Not even at Buenzli (which is held in a very expensive location) people is thrown out because of alcohol without a preliminary warning.

The masters of lameness is people like nosfe that cant be among others without drinking booze. There are several reasons why alcohol is not allowed on some parties...like past experience with drunk people :)

Somewhere there has to be drawn a line between sceners that booze and boozers that visit demoparties.

somewhere there also has to be drawn a line between real demoparties and lame LAN parties which try to attract sceners but in the end do not wish their presence.

Well, nosfe forgot to mention that they didn't drink _inside_ of the party place, nor did they have any intention of doing so. Someone on IRC asked whether he should have been banned too, since he had some wine with dinner before going to the party and thus had alcohol in his blood. No one answered. They also apparently banned people who hadn't participated in the drinking. (No, I wasn't there but I believe nosfe and others. Was intending to visit the party today but changed my plans when I heard of this ban and had someone else submit my prods. :-P

dipswitch, well, even at german parties there have been prohibition-things going on .. i just remember ms97 when our bags where scanned for booze by the guys who stepped into the role of the security in the beginning, but that was prolly because they lost control over what might have happened in relation to alcohol at that party before. =)

booze is required on demoparties, you meet people you rarly meet, and ofcourse, you gotta drink a beer with them, or many. greets to nosfe & crew, fuckings to lame orgas.

Basically what uncle-x said. every organiser knows that there are certain elements in the scene that will booze a lot. If they don't wish this, they should stop organising demoevents.
Dominei: not really. If you are afraid of drunk people fucking up your hardware and your partyplace, you just warn them and leave them outside until they are in a proper shape.
Sceners have been boozing outside at TP and ASM since early 90s, so it's perfectly ok to have events where you can't booze inside...

I personally reject such events, dixan :)

Being drunk is one thing, ruining hardware is another. then it's ok to throw out people for a while :)
DLZ: At MS'01 there was a rule for no alcohol inside the hall - nobody (not even the organizers) cared, VOZ build up their still famous "Bierbüchsenturm" (beer can tower).

Having heavy boozers to go outside is ok, I think (like it was at Breakpoint'04), but no boozing? I normally don't drink that much alcohol at home (several weeks without beer is pretty normal), but when I party I want to share a beer when talking to ppl more than only a sentence.

By the way, at this years Symphony some people were checkt (while entering the club) for alcohol (by club secu?) when they didn't had it and not checked when they had it. ;)

Nosfe can be at a party without drinking but he is very inactive and silent then, that's not fun for the others. :)
