I agree the timing could have been better considering the plot. This production was ment to compete at GERP before it got postponed (and the invasion occured). Then we decided to aim for Revision instead. And here we are. Sorry if it made you feel uncomfortable.

It occurred to me while watching it that the timing was not the best. However, I like the quality and humour of the video, and it is technically very good, so I can't give it any other rating
I found it very amusing, party favourite.
Nicely made but I will still insert the original Desert Dream disks into the drive of my good ol' Amiga. :)

I'm so torn about this cos clearly there's a shitton of work that went into this, but at the same time it feels very dated, especially the actual character animation :(

Actually, statues seem to be holding melon slices, if I remember correctly. As Gargaj said, the character animation is a bit awkward, probably not on purpose.

When I read the title I thought "oh dear, that's probably total crap" but was really enjoyable after all. Unfortunately only covers the intro part of the original demo (which I always wanted to skip).
Some very nice parts and some not so good. Alien goblins are indeed not so good. There could've been even more references IMO but yes, statues were holding melons :)

Great detail, nice idea and sometimes really funny. Some anims could be better and sorry, but it doesn't have the charme like the original.
That's a hard nope from me. Yes some effort involved, but this is one dead horse which has definitely gotten its share of beatings.
I thought, what crap is coming up now, and I wasn't disappointed. :-)
Ehm... how to put this, I'd heartily recommend making NEW demos on the Amiga itself, instead of shouting Aaamiguuuh, and instead of celebrating just above-average demos from 30 years ago with an anim. :-)

about the only non-negative thing i can say about this is that i honestly didn't even consider your headcanon that the spacecraft in the intro do Desert Dream was manned by the same creatures as the pixel art head shown just after the intro; mildly interesting thought, to be honest

@noby The scroller after the alien head pic in the original demo says "The alien is now so dead/The skin is falling off his head".
Great fun to watch in the compo. Love all the effort you put in to it - also on the audio and editing side.

The aliens could have been better animated but overall it's a decent production! Really cool idea to see a modern day sequel to Desert Dream! :)
Contains some nice scenes that saved it, because the overall direction was lacking at some points.
