It formed my tastes in so many ways. Patterns rather than objects, melodies in music, effects with practically infinite variation from a single routine, etc. etc.

Well then, I guess this is the first "demo" I have seen in my life (besides vendor-supplied demonstrations to showcase a computer's technical abilites). As a kid, of course I was not aware that some of the songs were cover versions (which I found out only a few years ago).
