Running it on my emulated amiga it looks like the clipping / polyfiller screws up in some of the parts (first one after the loading picture & the metaballs atleast...)

The parts I could see before losing my patience looked better than I remembered though...

Great to see Mawi back with a new demo. A nice one, but they did better stuff in the past. A worthy compo-winner, but it wasn't hard this year because of the poor quality of most other entries.

Good 68k demo in typical MaWi style.

I remember the time of the good old Amiga PPC demos.

I'd quote Borys here - from the compo - but I forget it exactly. So.
"Where is TBL? We can beat them!"
Please, next time don't use 3bit 1.7khz music!

this executable version should have better sound quality than the one at the party. video with proper sound will be released today or tomorrow. sorry for crappy audio (especialy to Chromag). Abount working under emulation, i will try to correct that too. use some patience...

When I heard there would a be an 68k Mawi demo I was looking forward to seeing it. Unfortunately, I am pretty disappointed, it's is a rather boring objectshow. :( Visuals are nice, music somehow fits as well but the demo is so boring. Looks like it has been made without any inspiration. You guys made so much better demos. I just rewatched it here at home and I still have the same thoughts I had while it was running on the bigscreen.
added on the 2007-04-12 10:41:43 by StingRay StingRay
Thanks Kiero for letting me take part in an Amiga production again after so many years. If you'd like to listen to the soundtrack in full quality, you can chose between the multichannel track or the mp3 (with a different intro, though) of it.

Up up for keeping the promise of 2003 :P
The demo is very well designed and got beautiful objects.
But what the heck happened to the sound replay quality and volume??!?
Both were way to low on the bigscreen.
That in turn -sort of- killed the mood of the show :/

Welcome back - and please stay!

Pretty nice demo, all in all - people have come to expect more of Amiga demos these days, still it's a very nice show.

But I think you REALLY need to work hard if you want to beat TBL in the Amiga demo compo (Kalms, next year bring your ass to Bingen and visit your family another weekend!)

Keep on working guys - the Amiga needs you.

nytrik: I think a lot of the guys in MAWI already did participate in some PC demos. Please correct me if I'm wrong
added on the 2007-04-12 11:36:50 by Puryx Puryx
@StingRay: i kind of agree, but (here comes the excuse) it's all about time. work takes quite big share of it. and not only mine but all other members. we could keep it at home and not release it, but i have bad feeling it would lie there forever, soo... Still, i kind of like it anyway:)

@d0DgE: sound support was done few hours before leaving home. Using sample instead of mod replayer was something i didn't do before. not even talking about writing own sound replayer. one thing responsible was bug in decoder (or encoder, we didn't decide yet with the original decoder author:) and second only 8bits per sample. not talking about adpcm compression which takes it's share. anyway, lesson taken, will be better next time (this binary has 14bit sound and fixed decoder. also optional ahi output)

@nytrik: not really. voodoo3 in my pc won't give much more possibilities:)

I think it's a really nice demo.

Kiero: I know that problem very well myself, so you don't really have to excuse. :-) I guess, after the last MaWi 68k demos I just had pretty high expectations. =) It is not a bad demo but I prefer your other work much more. Plus, Electricity will be my alltime favourite release by you anyway. :-)

what are the reqs? will it run on my 030/50/50/32mb?
@london superhero: no, maybe post-final will run on 32mb (current one needs 31MB of free mem to start here). not to mention that it realy really requires 060.
added on the 2007-04-12 15:07:40 by kiero kiero
I always have this extra appreciation for MAWI demos (I still love Heavy Traffic to death), but this one kinda didn't reach me. Lack of inspiration and especially lack of progress -- everything looks just like 5+ years ago. I'd cheer for a MAWI demo that would go in a new audivosial direction. But heck, I take what I can get MAWI wise ;) .

as I moved to edinburgh, uk I can not co-ordinate design with Kiero as much as possible and that's the effect :) I hope we'll release after party final version which will contain all the ideas that should be thrown into these demo. consider party release as 40-60% of the whole project.

great to see MAWI on 68k again! Not my favourite mawi demo but making it also compatible with MOS is great too.

@Kiero the megahero:
It could be nice if you tried to adapt Fluffy Digital Snowflakes to 060/aga... ;-)
rulez added on the 2007-04-13 11:54:51 by Crumb Crumb
nice demo. nice gfx and moosiks. regular mawi style.

worst thing is that the music feels disconnected from the demo. it was too low/muffled and needed more definition. could be the adcmp routines, or general production of the track...i don't know.
rulez added on the 2007-04-13 20:25:45 by button button
mawi are obviously so tired of repeating themselves that they even don't try to hide it... saved by a few decent scenes, this one is a faint reminder of their glory days...

Very disappointed. Not even worth releasing IMO. MAWI had some really c00l PPC demos in the past that I dig a lot. This was 68k, but that does not help as it's not that c00l at all (repetitive effects, NOTHING new + it had too many annoying bugs). Sorry but I really have to give first thumbs down now.

Not the best MaWi demo but, hey... nice graphics!
Make a final version and everybody will be happy (or not).
It's good to see MaWi again on AGA+060. Forced by the rules of the compo? ;)

good engine, the rest is standard fare... shame for the sound quality but i guess that's where deadline struck in this case.

I love the Mawi style and I love the music, but this looks so tatty!

The Amiga is really showing its age now and is so incapabable of running a decent 3d demo.

I suppose entering the Amiga competition these days is easy money, but it would be nice to see Mawi face some real competition.
blah, piggie for you
added on the 2007-04-15 11:38:30 by thec thec
kiero wanted to release a 68k demo so there it is :) repetitive effects? it's 68k, hundred times slower than our usual environment, so don't expect magic at the beginning. on the other hand - you can't teach old dog (kiero) new tricks, hehe :)

see you soon, anyway.
