pretty cool music and even some sync.

beatiful music.

the prod itself is fair enough, but damn I hate those stupid, wannabe philosophic texts. Max thumbdown instead of piggy because of that. I like the sound of the synth, though :)

Not too sure wethere I should have added it to the demo type (since it participated in the unified demo compo).

On the prod itself, love the cube effect and the interlace lines. Additionally, the music is pretty good, and the actual file is *tiny* =)

Great prod guys!

Oh, I also like the dissollving cube text. The synth does sound quite good for the file size.

mUsic: Good. Not greeting 7th Cube: lame. Lacks quite a bit (like decent backgrounds), seems very unfinished. Wouldn't mind seeing a final if you wanna work on it more, otherwise - make more demos! (:

Quite a technical feat and good polish. I actually kinda enjoyed the cubic philosophy stuff, which is saying something -- usually I don't go for that. Oh yeah, and very nice tune. IC's head was in the way at the party, but I still saw enough to say it ruled. ;)

a disappointment. it doesn't look very good and the texts are just bad.

And thanks for liking the music :D

Folks, Please remember.... this is *** 12 KB. *** Production
That's 0.1875 of 64KB. As such it should look better than a 4kb, but no where near the size of a 64kb. Obviously if it was 64kb, there would be a lot more there. 12kb was a cool target for us, since Pilgrimage has no intro compo. (Only combined). The fact that it competed with, and got 2nd place [compared to many multi megabyte demos]... is very cool indeed.
added on the 2004-09-21 17:31:25 by Polaris Polaris
why, the text and music reminds me of the cult K-Storm demos.
added on the 2004-09-21 17:41:44 by Navis Navis
i'm not complaining (and 12kb version didn't work on me anyway :). even though it's quite small in size, it's not very enjoyable (imo). it's all about style (small-sized stylish prod is just plus). for instance, i liked Etherium much more, although it is 8/24 kb smaller.

very nice music, but very boring and ugly.

Another great Pilgrimage04 demo.
rulez added on the 2004-09-21 18:31:02 by radman1 radman1
although i love cubes in general, and the music was kinda nice, i have three very specific reasons for thumbing this down:
1) .bat file - we already have more than enough of them in the 4k category
2) visuals - very ugly (black cube on light blue background - jesus)
3) scenepoetry sucks. scenephilosophy sucks too

I liked the music, but the effects weren't spectacular and the color choices were rather... unexpected. And the poetry was just bad.

I liked the puzzle. I thought the theme was really cool, and generally well implemented. The music was nice. I agree the color choices weren't great -- the background looked cool, but didn't fit the black/oldskool colors on the cube.

I voted this second, and hey, it got second. Guess I'm clairvoyant or something.

Didn't completely like the poetry, but it was better than scene average. The Rubik's Cube idea was good and nice effort in the soft-synth.

However, font-wise I'm *still* standing on the wrong side of the line. But instead of huge, I get garbled. Nyuk nyuk!

Thom, perhaps you should try the compatability version. Or are you just complaining for the sake of complaning?
added on the 2004-09-22 06:08:36 by Polaris Polaris
Simply the best (and highest-voted) prod that _ran without crashing_ on the compo machine. My personal favorite.

Can I thumb it up since I didn't work on it? oh baby, yes I can!

very boring, but the cube and the music saves it

i thought it was incredibly boring. it was a spinning cube, over and over... and then lots of spinning cubes... over and over.

pleeze, it would've been great for a 4k...

When I first heard the concept for this intro, I was quite skeptical as to how it would turn out. The original concept, reproducing the Pilgrimage Iinviiation's cube in 4K, certainly had technical merit. With the size limit pushed up into the 12K region, I didn't know what to think. You guys surprized me by making good use of the extra space. The style is untypical of most ND productions, with much more thought placed into the overall visual appeal.

About the scenepoetry: I find that I enjoy the prod better if I just ignore it.

About the rating: Thumbs up for this being one of the nicer Northern Dragons productions to date.

Thom, you're not the only one who voted it second, Guess I also helped put it there. I found it neat and interesting regardless of size, didn't know it was 12k until it was over. Thanks to Polaris for the technical explanations after the compo.

nothing special. the black cube with (ugly) particles rendered on each face doesn't fit to the rest.
music saves this prod from thumb down. so piggie.
