Made by sceners, released at a scene party, free, so I think it's ok to add it to the db.

I've played it up to level 2-2 by now and I can say that despite some obvious bugs and misplaced things here and there, it's a damn fun game.

so much work and dedication went into this, you simply cannot *not* thumb it up. (witness my double negation skills!)

I wonder how many of those years they've been wanking to porn, but whatever, it's pretty cool that they made this.

I'm also still at 2-2, but was told code will get better with 3-1. Stuff I don't like too much:

- Breakable blocks/balls can only be destroyed with the surround, other weapons do not work (unlike t1&t2)
- When in wheel-mode, enemies are not killed by running over them (unlike t1&t2)
- I REALLY miss ingame sounds, the quality of the background music is rather average and gets on my nerves after some time
- Well, the bugs (walking in wallls etc)

Other than that, it fucking RULES!

Please tell me what the big deal is. They've just ripped a games resources and converted them, right?
Wrong. Very.

i've played it for a while and the bugs havent disturbed me that much. great gfx and music, but i would like a nicer feel in the way you move. and i believe aeg made quite alot of other more or less nice stuff during those years
rulez added on the 2004-08-31 15:28:22 by hollowman hollowman
@Scamp: press fire button, you can shoot your weapon while in wheel-mode and kill the monsters that way.

Oh, and I'm still waiting with a final verdict until I've completed the game in the normal way. Worth a thumb up regardless.

With my lame gamer-skillz I think I'll wait for a trained version, so I can get past level 1-1, before I make my final judgement. But my first impression is that it seems a bit unfinished with those bugs and spelling errors, which I think is a shame when it has taken seven years to make.
added on the 2004-08-31 16:29:39 by cruzer cruzer
cruzer: I felt the same as you about the game (for my first try it simply crashed). But I gave it a 2nd try now, and I must say that its pretty much bugfree on the later levels. So my "buggy" feeling vanished. The parallax shoot em up level is just Great :)

There are some bugs, though nothing show-stopping.

This game is C=64 rulage.

Long live the chicken head.

Grate rulez! But somehow I want punishment for these individually misspelled words...

Apart from AEG's usual problems (Spelling mistakes, ugly fonts, general "pilzigkeit", not telling me that he used my music ;) this game totally rocks, and succeeded where the completely unrelated Turrican 3 on Amiga etc. did not: Capturing the Turrican spirit.

So this thumb from me:

There was so many good platform 64kb games at middle 90´s. for 8bit computers.

Ordinary classic platform game for C64, nothing more...
Finally!

i'm a bit confused... the code is by AEG & completely new? b/c the levels look almost exactly like the original Turrican material. where's the innovation?

Makes me happy to see such ambitious projects getting finished after a long time.

I was a CPC gamer so I didn't knew anything about Turrican back then. I enjoyed playing Turrican 3 while wondering "More bugs than Windows?", nevertheless most of them didn't spoiled the great gameplay. Kinda hard for me though, since I wasn't a Turrican player at my youth, only tried the whole series through emulator with trainer lately, so I managed it till the 3rd level with save states this time (plus a hint to go directly to the 5th level that I read somewhere on CSDB) and waiting for the trainer now ;)

I will surelly buy Katakis 2 if it ever gets released. (I am wondering in how many years)

> only tried the whole series through emulator with trainer lately (the old Turrican 1 and 2 I mean and not the 3, the 3 only with save states for the moment)

Simply awesome to see this prod finished. Though it's a little obvious that it's not done by MT and the original crew (lacks in design a little), it just kicks ass to have it now in 2004 as a true C64 game :) . Ok, Turrican might walk like he pissed his (iron) pants, but anyways, I let him have his way :)

And since I'm at it: It's great what SDS does on the C64. But the premiere presentation at EVOKE just sucked as much as T3 rules, sorry. This cheap looking 3D animated junk they wanted to promote T3 with was the worst piece of presentational ambition (and BTW the most unappropriated for a retro game like T3) I have seen in a looong time. Uh, seems like SDS desperately needs backup on the design side of things ... :/
