interesting style!
a bit cheesy colors but the soundtrack is nice and it has a nice atmosphere.

No it's not... it's superchilling and it rocks. Beats fly-by demos any day.

what's with the boring tum-releases? good music again and i like the way it evolves but it's still a "nothing much happens"-prod.

Some sort of "interesting", but I expected a bit more from kolor.
And shiva, please don't fuck the ati-users.

hihi, what's a rar.exe doing in the datafile? :)
you shouldn't blame the sizelimit if you fill your datafiles with garbage :)

A repetetive and cliched Winamp plugin style demo; the last thing I was expecting from the group that made masterpieces like De Profundis and Relais.

Although it claims to work on a gf4 mx, it wouldn't start here. (mx420, winxp, 512mb ram)
added on the 2003-12-30 02:53:19 by Pete Pete
always love raytrayza tunes, and this is not a code jerkoff but a design/feel thing, so rules

AND it runs on a gf2mmx here, so update your drivah shizzle or quit whining ...

This demo brings out the Kolor in my eyes. Perhaps best visual design in a demo to the date.

there will never be a fix for non-nvidia, sorry. maybe we will have a final, but it will be more concerned with content, size & efficiency.
added on the 2003-12-31 11:21:28 by noize noize
noize: fair (especially since i have a spare gf4 for demos like these), but i do wonder what the "excuse" is for limiting the display adapter support in such a horrible way? i didn't really see anything that should've required extremely funky codepaths for different vendors in opengl, or couldn't just have been done using a relatively standard set of d3d features.

that all aside, as i already said earlier, the demo is cool :)
added on the 2003-12-31 11:46:12 by superplek superplek
the graphics+design are excellent and the rest is nice too.
rulez added on the 2003-12-31 11:54:22 by dodke dodke
plek: two things: the demo is build on relais, and there is no excuse for needing everything relais needed once, sorry. this has been stated a "deficit" in the infofile already.

the other thing is, that relais didn't support ati, for which i don not know the reason. i only know that a rather famous german coder claimed to able to port it to ati, and failed, earlier this year :) but i see, this is a steady problem to our pipeline, and i will try to make support for other vendors an option for future releases.
added on the 2003-12-31 12:08:27 by noize noize
noize: ah okay, i didn't read too carefully. good luck on that, would be handy, ati is certainly expanding their ground these days :)

fucking trippy the whole thing. ray is really the psi guy. if you all had watched this with a turned on mind you would have get his message instantly. well, this way you stay slaves of your own expectations.

it was nevertheless a bit sad that the demo stuttered on the compo pc. since i know that the stuttering appears on several other machines i wonder if this was an fx... naa ;)

the neurons are wonderful, the light in the middle is just - awesome. but the stuttering, arr. please fix it.

a_lee_n(?): i explained the ati-thing above, please read it.

nytrik: we will make a video out of the final version. we have already agreed on what has to be changed, so it won't take long.

paniq: shiva reported the stutter being an issue to the compomachine. but some machines seem to have the same problem. i just had a look at the allocation-behaviour but there is nothing anormal to it. it doesn't even use much memory at all (70mb?)

Preferred it over FR's crap. However, Shiva said they only coded some effects, and it was assembled and compiled by a gfxman whom even he himself doesn't know.

Lovely!
rulez added on the 2004-01-01 17:23:41 by pan pan
I shouldn't really comment now, as I should wait until I get back to work and the NV card there, but what the heck.

From an artistic standpoint I definitely like it. The light in the middle is just damn beautiful and the whole composition is awesome.

Tho, what was missing IMHO was a kind of climax. Might that I'm a bit oldfashioned in this regard, but the good ole concept "tension arc" wasn't invented for completely no reason and after the really nice build-up this prod doesn't go anywhere, which is a pity.

Same thing with the music, it's good and trippy ambient/IDM, but again it's rather a random collection of patterns than a closed piece of music.

So, pigface for now but maybe a thumb (up) will follow ;)

'k, more consistency in my comments(votes next time please, but anyway, doesn't hurt ;)
added on the 2004-01-01 17:28:48 by kb_ kb_
Ok, so they took a break from their usual story-3d-flyby approach, but to me, it didn't really worked out. It leaves the impression of being a rather generic quickly-thrown-together style production which lacks a lot of content. (and dissing the fr tum demo while only having this to offer was a bit... strange)

got a chance to watch it at home with a duron 1,2ghz 512mb ram gf42ti pc, demo was fluid and wonderful. the soundtrack is great, too. but i guess its just too abstract for the regular simple minded human to become popular. not that our demo is any different ;) in fact i love abstract stuff.

judging by the comments i'm looking forward to see the video version of this demo (funny though that even r9800 isn't enough to see this demo).

There were some interesting things happening here, but the bright spot in the middle was very distracting in an annoying manner. On the other hand, that was probably the point and I missed it once again.

back when raytrayzer made this (zero custom code! he just used my tools & engine) i was a bit worried because he made quite ineffcient use of it. watching it now, i am amazed at how well the design stood the test of of time.

sick music and visuals. only issue was that it gets kinda tiring that the scene doesn't change too much, there could be at least variations on the ball in the center, but nevertheless, good stuff.
