The funniest Demo I've seen in the last months.
This one really got the party going in front of the bigscreen.

you need dos to run the first version. we will provide a windows player within the next two weeks or so ;)

okay, this one seriously rocks :D
i guess you had video-versions of the demos and wrote a converter to make them into text?

That was very nice!

Optimus: Nice? Fuck, you were at tUM when it was shown. This isn't nice, this is just the best wilddemo since a very long time. Oh, since Mekka Symposium 1999.
For all others: This is a mustbe on your watchlist if you like demos.

You can find the complete win32 version or just the player here.
If you already downloaded the iso you just need to extract the files from the iso and copy the player to the same directory.

HEY I'VE GOT A GREAT IDEA FOR A WILD DEMO! WHAT IF WE TAKE FINDING NEMO, CONVERT IT TO TEXTMODE AND PRETEND THAT WE REALLY MADE IT BY OURSELVES
sucks added on the 2004-01-02 18:24:37 by raymon raymon
As if they would pretend to have made fr-25 et al. But it's true, that you can do something like this only ONCE.

However, my real complaint is that the ansi renderer generates too much undefinable mishmash. Oh, and the sequence and choice of mixed demo material is rather questionable too. :)
added on the 2004-01-02 18:47:22 by tomaes tomaes
tomaes: well the point was that ALL material in this production is 100% ripped
added on the 2004-01-02 18:51:44 by raymon raymon
at least they managed to make the smash designs demo look somewhat better.
other than that: doh
sucks added on the 2004-01-02 18:52:25 by leijaa leijaa
big ups to leia. anyways this is by far the lamest thing ever made. for all the non-understanding: weasel probably has one of the best video capture studios in europe and sol(.planet-d.net) coded his ascii converter ages ago. if they did not used that, the idea was still totally crappy. 0% talent or creativity went into this.

Uh... This was so... German.

Horrible crap, except for that Smash Design- sequence that looked alot better than the original.

Sir RICHARD:
Oehm..wow! Thanks for the compliments though... ;-)
Although I didn't really get the connection between my person (or studio) and this prod here... ;-)

about the prod:
Well, I didn't really like this myself when it was shown! It looks pretty 'fast-hacked' together with no real inspiration. The 'ascii'-engine didn't really convince me as well as it just looked like a 'video-filter' set over captured material.
Although at the beginning it started out nicely it lost quality in the further ongoing and was/is simply too long as well. After a short while you got the 'general idea' and there's nothing new anymore to watch then...
Could have made way better when there would have been put _more_ time in the making of it though...
added on the 2004-01-03 01:27:56 by Weasel Weasel
must've been wrong then. considering you were on the credits i figured your videocap material was used. which would mean even that one thing about this demo that could've been "hard" (though absolutely useless) would've become a whole lot easier.
added on the 2004-01-03 11:40:04 by skrebbel skrebbel
I'm on the credits of this prod??
Aha...that's interesting now...
Haven't noticed that when it was shown in the compo though.
Guess I will have to check this out again here then to see what's the deal about that ! ;-)

At least as far as of my personal knowledge I don't have to do anything with this prod or the video-caps of that one! ;-)
So if there are creds given out to me it might be either wrong or they've just taken any earlier material from any prods I did some time ago and used that in here now!
Hmm..I'll see when I check it out again then! ;-)

*yawn* boring, textmode is so last century.

Sir RICHARD:
Oehm, well...I forced myself to watch it again now just for checking about your words about my name being in the 'credits' somewhere in this prod.
Well, couldn't find anything though... ;-)
So I was just wondering where you had seen this then... ;-)
Also checked the ANSIs coming with the prod.

The show itself doesn't show _any_ credits at all neither at the start nor at the end! ;-)
So it was even kinda waste of watching-time for me as the show itself really lasts _way_ too long and isn't good as well! I just can say this now for sure...as we speak!! ;-)
Oh well...

hmhmhm weasel, i really do believe you were mentioned during the price ceremony when it appeared it had needed no less than 7 (or something) people to produce this divine piece of work. was i that hung over at that time? sorry for wasting your time and making you watch this all over again at least :)

ahwell, n0y, one of the creators, just emailed me telling me that at least the ansi converter had been coded by themselves. sounds like an awful waste of time but at least makes this prod less lame than it seems.
added on the 2004-01-04 00:15:14 by skrebbel skrebbel
Thanks for your feedback, Sir RICHARD... ;-)
Well, I don't remember every word from the price giving of course...but I guess you really might have mixed something up here then...

Maybe you've heard something said about any credits for the opening video which I had done for this year's tUM party again...

Although I wouldn't remember being mentioned there at the price giving as well though.
But who cares anyways... ;-)

Hey, I just burned it in a CD. It said that the sound was speaker but I thought it was not when I had first heared it at the partyplace. Now I discover that it really is and that it is the most clear speaker digital sound I have ever heard! (Not loud enough though :P)
added on the 2004-01-08 19:13:56 by Optimus Optimus
yes, respect for the speakersound!
textmode kicks ass!
rulez added on the 2004-01-09 19:44:13 by js js
In case you didn't noticed yet, there is a Win32 player for that one. No need of burning CDs and starting under DOS... ;)
the idea might seem nice, only that there's not much of an idea in it. it might be funny for a moment, but *textmode-for-the-sake-of-it* is kinda pointless. and that you hear from a mouth of a well-known textmode-lover... =)

thumb for the idea and of course the super-1337 pc speaker output.. was very cool at the party itself!

Was a great fun at the party!

Very cool, but my windows did not start after watching the demo again. this sucked. i had to enter the "last working configuration" first in order to start windows again.
