please note the "partyversion" in the title. It has bugs here and there... won't work right on win9x... ATI's screw up texture clamping (or maybe it's the other way arround :)... ohh, and it has some problems with forceware 53.* drivers. so you are warned!

Arsekicking demo and no doubt.

well, nice scenes but I don't really like the fly-by theme. I miss motion and life, camera movement isn't enought too give it a nice feel. Perhaps you should make more life-like effects like shadoing and reflections. The "oil-platform" scene looked a little funny, It would be better if the water wasn't totally transparent.

after downloading the MSVCRTD.DLL, this demo is really nice, with perhaps a little too much camera movements, but with a good music

Quite nice, although the glow effect was a plain ugly. And maybe I missed more moving objects.

Nice Fly-By Demo, but Kick-ass great Music :) Want to have this Tune :)

I didn't like it as a whole, but the sunset-scene worked for me, oddly enough. And btw, fmod is by Firelight, not Fairlight.

this is also a debug build...

nice little flyby extraordinare. also thumbs up for managing to make me nauseous :)
what i found a little disturbing is that the camera would have been much better with constant velocity, instead of speeding up and slowing down at it's beginning and end of it's path.
btw, did the sunset scene have nearest point sampling on the skybox? or just disabled mipmaps? i'm curious.

the modelling was nice, the music was ok but didn't make me rip the tune :)

massive respect for doing all this quasi-alone.

nice texturing and cam movement effects...

music was ok but looking for msvcrtd.dll sucked...anyway good work ;)

It's annoying that I have to download extra DLL's to see this. Pack it properly!

you don't get it.

msvcrtd.dll is a debug version of msvcrt.dll (which you DO have in your system dir) if you have visual studio installed. they obviously compiled a debug version of the demo and forgot to link the system stuff to the executable. i presume it was an accident.

it's obviously their fault, but i remember a debate (flame) over people packing in VC7 runtimes in the archive and getting flamed for reasons like "this is not 64k anymore" and stuff.
please don't thumb down a prod just because you can't get it to run. (especially if you COULD)

some great textures

I liked this one. Indeed great texture work, had it's own slightly spooky touch in them.
Poem seemed to be "forced" somehow but they always seem to...

It has its good points, but as a whole I found it quite dull and lacking in atmosphere.

I liked how the 3d was mixed with the skybox, kinda "seamless" transition.

But as others pointed out it is to much flyby with static objects.

A nice attempt though, and hope you make more demos.

boring flybye...

thanks everyone for not giving me tons of crap! I've taken note of your critics (of the constructive ones at least) and i'm sure my next prod will be something other than a 'boring flyby'. Infact the hole point of this demo was to use all the code i had written for the last 1.5 years (wich wasn't enough to make a demo IMHO) and make the best possible scenes with it (wich isn't much when you don't even have a 2d nor a 3d artist arround, and no splines in the camera code :)... so i had to learn some basics for modeling/texturing/etc. my most active field has allways been music so i had that one covered ;]

Gargaj:
yeah, nearest point but mipmaps on, nice catch :)

~sagaciti:
thanks for pointing out the fmod thing, it's being fixed for the final

btw: as some pointed out it's a debug build (like i said, i had bugs here and there) but the final will be an ordinary release mode build so you don't have to smash your head against a wall and look for any debug runtime as an excuse for thumb me down ;]

it's a demo I can't resist coming back to over and over again. Spells style from begging to the end.

begging = beginning. (ouch!)

Great textures in an ordinary flyby. The glow filter was a bit buggy though..

A clear thumbs up. I liked this demo a lot - clicks with me - fast movement of the camera - travelling from scene to scene. Good music. Overall an enjoyable demo that I will watch effortlessly again.

program can't find bfld.dll - and a quick web search had no luck - any ideas where I can find it?
