St Connection is also a part of this demo, but Pouet only allowed two crews to be added.

This demo is epic! Extremly good and the goodbye to Atari by The Overlanders, ST Connection and Legacy. All of Jess's chiptunes on the Atari is included in a special music-screen as well.

Damn! I can't believe the Froggie is not listed in the TOP 10 Prods. It's by far one of the most impressive and original demo ever made. I tried to view it with STeem but some parts still don't work but I already glad we can hear to the great tune from the intro. So up up up the Froggie, it really should be part of the TOP 10.

Very nice demo, the Legacy part is cool, I loved the music and style in the dentro. I think the Spectrum pics were with 4096 instead of 512 colours.
Simply a cool prod. Stange that Next did not participate...:-)

This is working in the latest version of saint now...

Really good demo containing some jaw dropping moments, ie the massive filled 3d in overscan, and that 4 bitplanes zoomer.

Hmm,. for some reasons I hadn't managed to see this demo before (the reason was that the mouse movement in the menu was wrong in Steem and so one attempt to move made the click in one of the four frogs and always watched the same music disk part). Now, it works on Steem.

There are two amazing multiparts (the fiirst has really smooth zoomers and more, the second has various routines and at the end a 3d movie like Odyssey in Amiga but even with great vector actors like it's Another World vector men) and also a music disk is the other froggie (with great starwars scroller menu and a a tetris game) and 4096 interlace colors pictures. It's great, I really like it!!!

Oh, and yes the fullscreen 3d is impressive too! First time i didn't noticed it was overscan and wondered how Ziggy could have commited this screen, far slower than his 3d in the Europeans demo. Then i understood, and was struck in awe!

All in all my personal alltime STf favourite! Deep respect to the ppl involved in this coolest of STf prods, esp. Legacy and OVR. Great stuff for eyes, ears and demomind... mostly even in overscan. This may sound stupid (and probably it IS to say that), but if you are planning to quit the scene, please do it THIS way.

Atari ST Democyclopedie

Some technical Info about the main menu / slide displayer (which I wrote)

As far as I know, this is the first screen on an Atari ST that contains a Spectrum 512 image (with 3375 colours, taking 63% of the cycles), and a 16Khz soundtracker (taking about 30% of the cycles). This code was also used in Defjam/Checkpoint's wonderful Thunderdome demo.

That left no time for the usual Atari ST mouse interrupts. To make the mouse work, I wrote a 125 byte 6301 driver to decode the mouse X/Y position. This fit into the 128 byte ram of the 6301, and meant that I could read the X/Y position directly from the 6301 saving many cycles. It's also why emulators struggled to run it: they had to be upgraded to emulate the 6301 chip!

Hi everyone, I did the whole packaging of this demo along with the help of Mr Bee who packaged the OVR part (and I did also the Legacy screens using team's member optimized core routines). Many thanks for the comments. We really appreciate.

I think it contains in one point most of the techniques that existed at this time to push hardware limits of a STF: hardware scrolling, overscan with 3D (where you could simply not use divide instruction), sound sampling at high rates combined with high colors, buzztones/synthsounds and of course the one Alien has written about (mouse/keyboard chip reprogramming) which is very unique. Even the disk drive had a special unique routine written by Mr Bee, because it could manage a second external floppy drive so that you do not need to change disk !

Please note that the Tetris game was larger than a standard one, because the project was initially a simultaneous 2-players game ;)

All these part were not designed to come together in the first place, and for some of them, this was simply abandoned code by most of team members. It was the beginning of the end for us. So Mr BEE and I decided to package everything together and release that final goodbye to the scene !

4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

On ST, the player made by Ben did not provide any editor. I, you'll think
I'm crazy but it's the pure truth, composed each of my musix by entering
the source code of my Bro player, modifying datas : I programmed my music
using GenST development environment, and each note looked like dc.b or
dc.w $b3,$64 ...and so on ! Incredible huh ? I had to re-compile each
time I wanted to hear my song ! :-)
