this was very entertaining :)

Creativity without limits.
What a ride! I'm not even mad about reusing content: it actually works in favor of this demo by playing with familiar concepts and characters and twisting them in fun and unexpected ways. My personal favorite from the compo, entertaining all the way through!
COOL 3D WORLD 2!
Fun with physics at Function.
Kinda got this "one trick pony" feeling from watching the production. It was way too similar to the previous production and overall length of demo was in a barely tolerable level.
nice sequel! :)
Teamwork!
Funny!
Archee prods puts a big smile on my face, this one is so damn good. And nice Daft Punkish tune aswell.
I enjoyed this demo more than the majority of PC demos through the years.
Same crappy assets and textures for the nth time.
Same jaded rendering for the n+1th time.
Same cheap slapstick votegrab for the umpteenth time.
Plus it's just too long, and not funny.
Yes archee, we know you can code physics. We've known it for 10+ years. There just hasn't been _any_ progress since then. You could do SO amazing things if you wanted to and teamed up with a proper artist for a prod with actual substance.
I've given up on hoping to be impressed by anything new you do, and was surprised there wasn't a "click here to download the DLC for just 1$" half way through the demo.
Maybe you prove me wrong next year, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Can't say I disagree with most of BoyC's points, but I can't bring myself to hate this either. The biggest issue for me was that this was more of the same from foo2 island, but less entertaining and waayyyy more long-winded. That makes this seem like a downgrade, so piggie it is.
What BoyC said. This is just competent physics engine implementation without the demo, or anything else worthwhile.
re-re-re-recycling (still entertaining, but please make something different next time :D)
well its your way of storytelling and has its funny moments, archee-style.
its ok i can live with poor texture and modeling with some physics on top as long as the content is entertaining.
in this case its just entertaining enough for a (weak) thumb because it really drags on for too long while missing several severe opportunities/ideas to shine.

Exactly what BoyC said. Demoscene is digital art. This is just digotal.
"...just digital."
meh... I'm so bloody tired after the party...

I felt entertained, so heres a thumb.
On the other hand, it’s just reusing 90% of the visuals with a new music (which I pretty much like), so please, do SOMEthing new next time, will you?

Entertaining trailer to some indie game, but where is a demo ?
1st place as crowdpleaser ? No. Sorry
1st place as crowdpleaser ? No. Sorry
Exactly what BoyC and Trauma Zero said!
@archee:
Don't get me wrong dude, you know I absolutely acknowledge and admire your coding skills, but both of us know this should have entered in the gamedev compo as it has 0 demoscene within, just an incredible game engine with cheap and lame graphics.
I remember some interesting tech demos / 4k intros (e.g. Photon Race 2) from you, which were not too much artistic either but pretty much contained at least some essential parts of the demoscene. Not like this one.
IMHO you could learn some very vital aspects from our incredible 256b coder line-up, b/c it seems despite the very limited size and capabilities they care more about the "demoart" than you did lately.
In the end:
The crowd liked it and you won the competition there's no doubt, and of course you should be proud of that, but explicitly stating that this is the future of the demoscene and and all demos should contain physics ( what you commented on Gargaj's entry ) is just waaaay too aggressive and shows a gratuitous level of self-confidence...

fun
The end of an era..
Cant wait for your new explorations , tech and finally demos! Keep on rocking!

Very enjoyable and good feel!
yes this looks shitty and ugly, but I enjoyed the story.
clever and a little frustrating to watch
So what it looked like previous releases? I'll say that is a good thing as long as it entertaining and fun to watch.
I liked Foo2 Island, but I really can't be entertained by the same thing twice if the second one doesn't improve on the first. Like was said, this feels more like a trailer for an indie physics puzzle game than a demo.
What Waffle said. Still funny to watch though. :)
I was reasonably entertained, although it was slightly long and wore out its welcome.
This was like the Marvel Movies, reused, but still entertaining. Crowds fall for that and I personally fell for it too. We have heroes - two! - threshold, helper, enemies... Half of the elements Joseph Campbell's Hero's Jorney includes. (BTW George Lucas and many others based their stuff on this journey) Those wheeled bastards have character (at least it seems like that). Gave a new color for the compo.
I admired BoyC for the technology earlier, but his comment here is generalizing, personal and negative. Maybe he should incorporate some story next time?
This compo has shown:
tech or story?
STORRRYYYYYY
FFFUUUUUNNN
AAAHHH :D
PS: all right, this fker is seriously missing post render effects, fog of view and has the most basic shaders. It misses a good graphic designer, but who cares, if it has...

I felt entertained so it's good, but of course also good that you want to move on from now !
solid, even funny, but too long in the end (especially as we have seen it before)
i'll thumb it up under the premise that your next prod is not again recycling the same scenes, content and humor please.
you sure have the skills to do amazing stuff.

what Preacher said.
I prefered it to foo2 island: the trucks are more suited for this visual-style imho, and the punchy music made me in a good mood :)

Nice and funny!
I can understand the criticism, but in the end I have to give props for a funny, entertaining demo.
I love how the same guys that are bashing this prod are mostly known from boring planet flyby's and boring "supposed to be dramatic" static scenes with slow camera movement or over-stylized abstract non-sense.
Everyone has his style and I myself enjoyed this demo fully. The rendering is just right for the content. The font fits perfectly. More of this, please!

Why do you love that? Like, are you implying there's something supposedly hypocritical or logically inconsistent about this?
Haterz gonna hate.
this one is actually a lot more fun to watch than the previous one in terms of clever actions
I laughed at the previous one, laughed a bit a this one too, until I realised what category this was in. Not worth a thumb down though. Solid piggie with a hope that next year there will be more spinning cubes and less drunk lizards/trucks :-)

ugly.
time to move on
noby: as much as I like prods with a lot of effort on artistic side, I also like goofy stuff with different focus. It's refreshing. Also the plot improved from the previous one - what's not to like about those silly trucks?;P As for the demo or not - who cares. I am kind of bored with one true and only demo formula.
I had coffee out the nose a few times watching this one. The physics is probably one of a kind on the demo scene. Not sure if there are any other engines doing this without using a public/commercial library (destroying the demoscene in the process)?
I believed it may be some AI based controls at first (in these magic AI days anything is possible). The goal is for you two sleds to get on the bus, now figure out how to do that on your own by any means possible.

What BoyC, noby, TrX and others said is technically true, but somehow I was entertained for 6 and a half minutes, and I'm usually the person to complain about editing room floor in comments for demos half this length.
Would like to second Triace instead.
Would like to second Triace instead.
More of the same, and this was such a blatant re-use of previous content that it just feels like a waste of effort. But at least there's some comedy that's usually not found in demoscene productions, so piggy.
yep, next time change the textures at least ;)
I found this extremely entertaining and (surprise!) fresh. Even though it reuses 90% of the foundation and assets from foo island, it still successfully delivers several thing which I feel are severely underrepresented in demoscene:
- believable physics that is physiologically very satisfying to watch
- engaging action
- random ridiculous crap (e.g. Jesus Christ Motocross, or most of Tekotuotanto stuff)
Archee, please don't stop!
On a meta-note, I have trouble understanding the points which thumb-downers are trying to make. Especially given the fact that they come from people whom and who's opinion I respect a lot.
For me, one of the most important parts of demoscene is making fun (even better if also amazing and unexpected) things with the code you yourself wrote. In this sense this demo is more "demoscene", than e.g. doing great design using commercial engines.

Someone could definitely train a deep learning model to move trucks or whatever animal. The model training itself is long and arduous, but model itself can be small, so it can be used in demos.

zombie truck apocalypse yeah

Had fun watching it and didn't mind the recycling thanks to the "narrative"
Fails to start and complains about a missing "api-ms-win-shcore-scaling-l1-1-1.dll". Any idea what that might be?

Cool engine!
Nice and fun ! And my 19 months son likes it (it is not his favorite demo though ^^)..But you should have made two different "machines" ! For example one blue and the other one red or something like that
This was really good. Quite an improvement from your release of last year, with a much more complex script. If it was an actual gameplay, though, the game would have been a bit too hard, wouldn't it? :D
Was it for real? Seriously, guys, were you blind or what?
Love is blind and I love this!
Well done!
Fun and creative.

I don't think it's inconsistent; only if there was a cases where people did the reverse and just singled out archee.Quote:I love how the same guys that are bashing this prod are mostly known from boring planet flyby's and boring "supposed to be dramatic" static scenes with slow camera movement or over-stylized abstract non-sense.

To be honest, while it seems like the demo was fairly well done, I find it rather boring. The music is good, but it just sort of invoked an "Is it over yet?" feeling to me.

I think demoscene is whatever people want it to be. If you decided to do a wild prod involving filming yourself doing extreme ironing (this is a thing!) for the laughs, sure, whatever.I found this extremely entertaining and (surprise!) fresh. In general I think the scene seems to be about doing what you think is interesting, and perhaps exciting too, in connection with others. Sharing your desire to be creative, whatever forms that takes.
"There's no accounting for taste." applies here. What's "demoscene" enough will vary by person, or by quantity perhaps. (If everyone produced extreme ironing videos and nothing else, then I'm sure it'd get decried as unscene.) I don't particularly care if someone uses a commercial engine because maybe the results are really enjoyable. In the case of Poo-Brain, they started out with Unity and used that introduction to push themselves to do some really good 64k productions.
For a group that seems to want to be quite inclusive to keep itself going, marking things like this or that as more scene or not seems to be rather exclusive.
Entertaining cooperation following safety regulations.
With some effort put into editing (it's now too long) and cameras (not everything needs to be a single take) this would make a classic demo. Think Field Trip.
Anyway that frog was funny and I like how the shadows make everything look so solid and tactile.

I am this close to thumb this down.
Upon launch, the demo stayed on the "Loading..." screen, on top of all other windows, blaring music and refusing to acknowledge Alt+F4. Even after the music finished, the demo stayed running, eating 100% of one CPU code and still refusing to quit. In the end I had to reboot the computer. I'm really pissed.
Windows 10 64bits, NVidia GTX 1060. You should fix this, it's just sloppy.

Brilliant sequel :D
Szerintem nagyon aranyos/vicces. Én imádtam
Great!
Nice tune.
it was really fun to watch, totally took my attention! :)
I love when demos tell amusing stories :)
It's not bad, but it also feels a lot like I'm watching someone play Garry's Mod. It's somewhat entertaining, but not at all what I'm looking for in a demo.
Original and Fun.
I got bored very quickly
it's neat but can't help feeling this should've been in the game compo instead
What naughty little blighters!
very entertaining! would be great to play as a game!
I don't get the hate. This is amazing.
delicious, fantastic......... ❤.
Haha, great stuff! Love the physics engine, how lighting works, "characters" and also different way to demo. Of course it would have been nice to see more of new textures and graphics as well, but dunno.Don't listen to lamers thumbing this down.
funny
