<3 effects are awesome, music is super, and noches indomitas de horror is The Killer!!
I always like Spontz demos because of their effects, presentation and soundtrack. It's the same here too after watching the video. Pitty they switched to maxos.

Like the atmosphere (and lens flare effects) but some scenes are not at their best...

pretty good stuff, but the music sounds like .. well... 1997, and unfortunately not in a good way :)

Guys, don't you see that the end part looks much stylish then whole demo?
p.s. thanks for Mac scene support!
rulez added on the 2007-07-24 14:50:08 by Manwe Manwe
I'll put aside the fact that I think the demo is 'meh' for a moment, and ask a question to Khrome about the soundtrack:
In the video linked on this page, at the 50sec mark onwards there is a section that sounds directly sampled from the music they use on the1upshow.1up.com (which AFAIK compose all their own music).
Was this from a common source, or does it come from 1up?

I don't think it's long enough (10-15s) to classify as 'ripping' as such, but it threw me off guard a little... :)

This comment is for nagato^:
I compose, always, my own music :)
The music of this demo is original by me. It began like a remix from a Merlucin track and finally, it was converted in a demo soundtrack. The 10-15 secs at the 00:50 mark onwards are composed, note by note, by me. Anyhow, thanks for your notice.

Pretty nice demo, I just wish there could be VBL-sync to avoid the tedious screen flickering (C2D 2.2 / GF8600).
rulez added on the 2007-07-25 13:29:09 by evil evil
Hehe, it's funny, if you do a demo for Mac, you must do the port for Windows. But you don't have to if the demo is for Windows :)
added on the 2007-07-25 13:37:05 by mrdoob mrdoob
trace: I don't think so, we have ported to MacOS X all our demos except the first two, whose code has been lost in the darkness :) And surely there will be a linux port somewhere in the future

ekoli: It's not your powerbook but the graphics card, you need pixel shaders 2.0 supported. We are working in a version that will fix some bugs and hopefully will also run without these shaders also if you don't have them :)

rulez added on the 2007-07-28 13:24:11 by RA RA
Watched it on RA's iMAC and loved it.
Tried it on my iBook and cried.
Even though G4 is supported, it doesn't really "run" on it.
Still, one of the best new-school demos i've seen this year.

By no means a feat of demomaking, but true. I really couldn't finish the demo, too much ugly old hat.

Nice demo, nice effects. Run well in my imac but graphics errors in my macbook :(
rulez added on the 2007-08-02 13:39:01 by IceVAN IceVAN
IceVAN, the demo can't run in a macbook since the graphics card is not capable of rendering some scenes. Anyway we are preparing a version that will show more on the screen than just black :)

Nice particles.
- the zeppelin "history"
- the ugly-textured-cones invaders from space

Overall impression was a way too black and noisy(dithered), maybe was the true intention, but not my cup of coke.

planets+stars stuff, particles and some transitions looks great

Just to mention that this couldn't definitely be possible without the Isaac2 help and his bug hunting skills :)
added on the 2007-08-07 23:18:47 by merlucin merlucin
The music is very nice in places, but, sadly, too messy for my taste.

Didn't see the original and this "remix" (or whatever it is) didn't convince me, either.
good zik.

I don't know why always I prefer the credits part of spöntz demos...
added on the 2007-08-23 20:47:29 by humphr3y humphr3y
cool, appart from the cones
Kind of unpolished in many ways compared to most demos (crazy contrast between colours, things often look too sharp or in focus, models aren't so detailed, looks like an engine, etc.). I got a bit misled by the rating.

Credits part was pretty cool.

Ah, thanks for windows port. I'd downloaded it earlier and had forgotten that someone had to go through the effort of porting it from macosx.
