The sound in the second part is nightmare fuel.

Great first part, I didn't enjoyed part 2, still amazing in such a small file.

this was pretty cool! But on my C-128, the Knight Rider song would speed up and slow down. But still, pretty dope. What was that second song?

The first part was kind of amusing but the second part sounded like ass...

Pretty annoying that second part, but still they are master of memory.
Still One-Der-ing...

being used in a demo would be more entertaining than this, techtro or not. oink.
sounds like the encoder for the first part could use some work. too much modulation
I also know this class of codecs can do much better. compare: codec2

@tonyrocks. Interesting. Can you let me know whether you have a PAL or NTSC C64?

@Tjoppen. A lot of sacrifices were required to get it to actually run on a c64. Bear in mind that it is mixing 6 channels digitally with seperate amplitude and frequency per channel many thousands of times per second on a <1mhz c64. Most of the artifacts you can hear are due to the shortcuts in mixing and adjusting amplitude as well as minimizing ram requirements by using lower resolution for amplitudes to allow it to run in realtime and not an artefact of the encoder itself (Although indeed, there is still a lot of room for improvement).

Would be interested in hearing some codec2 audio examples at (1.6kbs) Music, not speech. Can only seem to find speech only examples at 2.4kbs or so.

First part rules and the second part is pretty cool too, I like the lo-fi speech.

@algorithm NTSC Commodore 128.

@tonyrocks. Demo is for PAL only systems. On a NTSC machine, there are only 262 (263 rasterlines for new NTSC models) in comparison to the PAL's 312. This results in frame skipping and slowdowns. The second song is the acapella version of N-trances "I am in heaven"

ah! ok, that settles it :) Still, even with the slow down, i enjoyed it.

Cool - makes me curious of you could find a superb speech synth algorithm!?
