Slideshow for yet another new VIC20-graphics mode (192*416 hires, 96*416 multicolor). 79872 pixels on a VIC-20 - nearly 25% more than the C64.

Watch on YouTube

Works ONLY on a real NTSC VIC-20 with at least 32K expansion, NOT in VICE, since VICE does not emulate the interlace feature of the 6560 (yet?)

Kind of surprising. Some of the pics looked really good, others didn't. Still a thumb for making it possible!

Got a bit boring in middle for me, as I don't understand the hardware limitations of that machine and the pictures seemed to be converted ones(?), nonetheless the animation at the end made it rock.
Kudos on the new graphics mode, I bet that wasn't easy to achieve.

i thought vic chip supports resolutions like 176x184 or 224x256. 192x416 is uber weird. so, thumbs up! :)

So, how is this a NEW gfxmode when it's a standard thing on the NTSC vic20? :) Make it work in PAL and you'll get a thumb ;)

i've obviously missed the "NTSC" part. :)
added on the 2012-07-23 12:59:40 by Skate Skate
The interlace-feature is available on the NTSC-VIC-chip only, so no way having this work on PAL, sorry. However since graphics on the VIC-20 is always just re-defined characters, the standard maximum resolution is 160x192. This new mode is only possible by having the CPU sync to the raster beam and update the character-definitions dynamically just before being displayed.

Yes, but that's hardly a new gfxmode now is it? :)
