thank you very much for all your comments. At Revision after the compo i was totally overwhelmed by the reaction of the people. Everybody coming to me saying: "Man, Ollie that was great" and then the woman of 3sat came to me and i had to give a interview (totally drunk :D ) - oh my. THANK YOU SO MUCH ! im happy - but very tired.

thank you guys. i worked from scene to scene. just started and did the animation in an experimental / self-surprising way. "What would be next - and then and then ?"

thanks man. the sync actually was done in a pretty simple way:
I first created a soundscape with random samples.

Then i animated the character to that sound. Now i went into afx and did a timestretch here and there. and the frames went faster and slower and so the sound.
I could have placed any kind of music or sound in the background and it would be some kind "in sync" that way. simple.

yes i am indeed the biggest fan of chris. if there´s one idol i had to choose it would be him.

BUT ! i don´t wanna copy or imitate him. That would be lame.
I wanna create my own style and work and i´m trying to do this in every piece i create.

thanks ! but i think there will be no sequel. There will be another movie. but a new one.
The next thing i´m going to create will be a little shorter to concentrate more on the details
and quality.
I talked to some people and made a suggestion to have a 10 seconds animated competition in a loop or so.

Imagine that ! every artist doing animation could push the limits to the top that way.
Not to have in mind: "I have to finish 3 minutes"
In 10 seconds all the skills of the animators out there. That would be soo great.

i like the band but i was not inspired by one of their videos.
I´m actually no animator so the main goal was to do a synced type of animation from sound effect to sound effect. that made it a little bit easier for me.

Thank you. There is really a little problem with the shoulders. And also the fingers when
formed to a fist. I´m aware of that and i have a fix for that now. i´m still learning.

I´m new to the animation software messiah (bought my license 1 1/2 months ago)
and had to learn it while doing the whole movie.

There are ways to fix this. But the deadline was really tight.
To learn messiah faster i played all the learning videos / tutorials at double or triple speed to save some time :D

next time it will be perfect - gimme some time ;)

thanks. i first thought about breaking the glass. but i then changed my mind and maybe he´s more scary behind the wall. maybe in another production he´s going to be on the other side :D muahahar ;)

btw revison was really awesome ! thanks to the organizers who were very friendly despite all the stress they most likely had. I loved breakpoint all the years but the new location is really cool. Very professional job you did - everyone of you - thank you.

I´m going to be there the next year as well - come what may. And don´t be scared bout the lacquerer - he´s just polygons ;)

i learned so much while doing this one so i´d like to share the project file
from my movie. Its a project file for the software messiah studio.

i hope it´ll work (maybe you have to turn on nurbs mode for the body and the head to render
properly - otherwise it could crash - and in the audio folder there´s the sound included - maybe you have to reload it in your messiah play tab)
the file is pretty big with all textures included. make sure you set the whole folder to your project directory.

also if there are some zbrush users around here there´s also a little example head file for zbrush with some blendshapes in the layers palette. The body is actually missing for being that
ugly :D and also there´s no hd displacement information included due to file size reasons.

i´m not sure if there was a production like this before.
If so - at least i had no intention to imitate anything.

I´m award of some "before seen" elements of it are:

the transform thingy:
for example xmen (mystique)
unreal engine 3 demo film (the guy transforming his head that way)
i think they are done with the same techniques.

some video i barely remember from muse i think where some guys bowing
down while standing and luffing in some way (im not exactly sure if it was muse)

and of course zillions of zombie movies where there are corpses hitting the glass wall.

My intention was to simply do a film in nearly perfect sync.
(in octillion i wanted to do a good camera movement and make it look huge without adding
detail - in julie i wanted to learn 3d tracking)
Everything has been done in some way before - in music - in gfx, everything.

what did carl sagan said once ?
"If you wish make an apple pie from scratch - you must first invent the universe"

But just a thought about this (and about art in general)

I always tell the people to use and show the infamous cube you´ve seen so many times in demos again ! yes the old boring cube.

but look at it and show it in a context like noone has seen it before. You - the creator included.
