Nice, nice, nice,... me playing now! However some fast blur would make it much nicer. Gonna check the other shit posted by pac^man!!!

Let's talk a bit about what is a particle..

At the older times there were some additive blended lights, too many on the screen, I love them, they looked so unique and special. I called them particles. But with this thing I was meaning the output. If I could blend too of these lights (like blobs, or metaballs, or shade bobs way..) I would say then "I made particles!", no matter of how they move..

But when some coders say particles, they mean how they move, the physics behind it, no matter if they are dots or lights or sprites or anything. They can bounce like in this demo, or float and leave pieces of them which loose their energy like in the other examples of pac^man. These are very lovely, especially in tribes, so smooth moving and nice. Also remember how gently that particles were moving in a 4kb intro by Ritz of Revolution. He treated his particles very well I guess ;) Physical movement of dots are called particles. Output is another thing, but it looks good, with sprites fading (tribes), trails (this one), blurring (non stop ibiza) and more. Combined together can do great explossions or waterfalls! Look really beautifull so..

And how could I name the output then? The light particles, I say them lights or something. Anyways,. at least they are beautifull :)

Don't know why I wrote all this but it was refreshing for me,. just came and fitted well. Have used a lot of times the word "refreshing" but it's refreshing and meaningfull for me..

Lost the lesson. Gotta go..

oh, please...

1.) it's not a demo
2.) it's dead simple (and the control panel is rather pathetic)

it's called "motion blur", people.
added on the 2002-12-05 12:33:24 by sagacity sagacity
do you INSIST on spoiling things sag? dickhead ;)
added on the 2002-12-06 19:46:44 by superplek superplek
oh, I'm sorry. what I obviously meant was that plek was motion-blurring approximately 50,000 particles/frame by not realigning all billboards every frame, but rather staggering the updates over multiple frames.

better now? :)

This kinda reminds me of old Amiga 500 demos whereby the view could change sine-bob movements. Except those productions had music. And scrollers. And logos. And design. And pretty much everything this program doesn't have.
view=viewer

Oops...
it's a test, not a demo
