I do recall the compo intro slide saying this was made using an A1000, Deluxe Paint and a Video Toaster, so a thumb for that at least, if its true!

The lighter part was kind of funny indeed. Not my kind of music (though well done), but I love how the tools used give it a real "Nineties" look.

It was hard for me to stand this at the compo. To me, it´s just cruel.

Well, she can sing. But apart from that not very special, so piggy.

It felt like I was at a talant-show like "Holland's got talent" :)

Not wanting to say that the demoscene is a "boy's club" this was just too commercial and "girly" for me to bear. I actually left the room and just checked to see if it had already finished.

If it's a prank it's mildly funny in a cruel way. If it's not then I don't think it belongs in the scene at all.

I'll take girly things over run-of-the-mill things any time.

I liked the song. That it didn't "fit" into the usual demoscene scheme ("scheiße"?) is a plus in my opinion.

I couldn't imagine why a commercial production would use a demoscene party for marketing. This was a bit more obvious with the NoCopy entry a few years ago. To me it looks like they just bought an old video production system that is accidently based on the famous Video Toaster. And then a nerd friend of them entered it at bp.

Let's see what the story is behind this entry. I'll save my thumb until then.

tomaes: explain please? I don't really see how winning a reality TV show is proof of this being a marketing ploy, unless you're implying that someone who's commercially successful can't possibly have legitimate creative reasons for entering a demoscene competition.

"Marketing ploy" was probably poor wording on my part (giving these guys way too much credit), but this is a music video for a commercial artist, promoting a commercially released single, thinly disguised as something else. At least that's what I gather from a bit of research.

In other words: This doesn't really belong in such a compo for the same reason this doesn't.

I had some kind of WTF feeling when the whole thing started in the compo. Well executed, but just a bit too cheesy for me. Possibly you didn't meet the target group at BP for this kind of music/video.

I would thumb it down again, if I could, just to make clear that no single producer will be allowed to release his commercial shit here, no VIVA, no MTV, no anything or anyone. I was almost puking during the compo, when this was shown. May she sing as good as it can get, but don´t open the doors, plz, for Roxette or Sarah McLachlan f.ex. releasing musicvideos on pouet, pleeeeeeaaaaaaasssseeeeeeee. Thank you.
