Omega produced much better things technically speaking before this STE attempt but it was cool anyway and one of the rare STE demos back then.
(requires Tos 1.62 for those who want to watch it through an emulator)

good prod, with some rather nice code for such a prod.

The end scroller even features a space cut cube. AFAIR it is the first Atari prod with this effect.

Was the best democlip ever on Ataris. Best music/effect mixture in such a style.
Although its rather cool, its not a demo that makes me want to watch again and again. Perhaps its to intense.

Wow, this wasn't already on Pouet??? :O

The best music-synch demo on Atari indeed, with fast STe code.

p01: true, my comment was somewhat rude. It's technically good but it's STE and late 1992, so I find it less impressive than what Omega released before ;)
That space cut cube was nice indeed.

my fave demo for a very long time!! obviously inspired by amiga techno demos. but this one is really well done with -loads- of 1 plane animations and 50 fps polys flying over the screen. also love the way they used front242's "punish your machine".
there's also a falcon version in which some bigger objects are shown at the end.

what a demo! the first one in this style I think..

Excellent! I still remember that weekend. I was the organizer of the party (in Lidköping, Sweden).

Ran this a few hundred times. An STE classic. Rocks!

btw, i recently checked the XOPE poly rout (as used in this one) and must stress the quality.. they seem to sacrifice a little accuracy to blit more pixels at once. can anyone verify this?

on a sidenote, there is also a TT version of the polyrout (not blitter) but this is quite bad. of course, that machine was really alot faster than an STe, so they didn't have to optimise.

Not a bad demo but I don't really like it. I didn't like LSD's Jesus on E's either. :) And I couldn't find the mentioned space-cut cube in the end part, emulator issue?
added on the 2007-10-03 15:09:28 by StingRay StingRay
StingRay: you just have to wait a while during the endscroll, I think the spacecut cube was the third or fourth object

Oh, and the demo is nice :)

Stingray: no... there are two different versions I think... party and final...

Sorry for the OK vote, but I can not find any way to post a comment without voting on my own prod...
earx: The poly routine was coded based on the theory that by filling the polygons in a column based order instead of a line based order, there would be a maximum of 20 columns to handle instead of 200 lines... Less number of fill loops that is.
I did however mess up the init of the polygon drawing, due to lack of knowledge. If I would rewrite the routine today, I belive that it would be possible to shave of some 20-30% cpu time for each polygon...
242 RULES!!!
rulez added on the 2008-07-22 10:00:47 by orb orb
hildenborg: ah, i guess that column based thing saves significant time on blitter as the inits are by far the most costly thing. but the top/bottom of the columns might still be hard?

good one for the STE

Nice. However I still cannot get use to searching a half of a day for proper desktop resolution (I mean the Falcon).

One the best STe demo. Very good concept and excellent code (and not to forget the graphics : the intro logo totally rocks).

Loved this demo when it was released. Had very high expectations, it being an Omega production, and I was not disappointed!

I remember reading about this demo in Swedish mag SHN where it received a write-up but didn't have the chance to see it then. Really cool and probably the start of something new in the ST scene, even though the design as such may seem a bit dated.
