Btw, the download link up there is in a weird format. This one's a normal d64'er:
http://www.c64.ch/demos/download.php?id=1751
http://www.c64.ch/demos/download.php?id=1751
What's so weird about that format?
its "zip packed" = a whole diskside is packed into 4 files, which later can be depacked to a diskside by a stock c64. (pc tools for that also exists, but this format was invented before that)
I know. Why would zipcode be weird? It's native to the 64.
I used to have problems with not so common formats at the older times (When I wanted to see demos from computer I was not familiar with), so zip packed was a regular headache for me. But it's ok now. Someone needs to have zip2d64 for zip files.
I had once found an 8*8 wolfenstein game preview on the C64, that I never managed to see. It used LNX, which needed a programm that I should run on the C64 in order to decompress the LNX file. I never managed to use it, so I forgot it. Now perhaps I will be able to find out, but I can't found the game preview itself :P
So, D64 and PRG (instead of zip, lnx), or DSK (instead of raw binary files), or TAP (instead of some weird files that remind me of zip style) are the regular thing for emulator freaks who just want to be impressed by the capabilities of an old machine, without having to struggle for that. I use to release all of my demos in those formats.
Perhaps we should need some infos on a website for newbies that don't know much about other computer scenes, like faq, help, machine capabilities, utils, tools, etc. (I had made a hard effort till I could find everything I would need in order to transfer/uncrunch/run Amiga demos for example, even on the real thing, ugh :P).
I had the idea for such a website at the older times, since I managed alone to find how to handle weird formats or run specific demos on many hardware and what tools I needed (from Speccy, CPC, C64 till AtariSt and Amiga and some more), but I don't have the time and courage to start any new website at all.. :(
Oh,. just some craptalking ;)

zip pack is outdated, this is the first time since looong years I meet with it... but that site is a good idea tho.
Optimus: I can see a certain need when it comes to obscure platforms such as Russian speccy clones or Thomson computers, but the C64 should be common knowledge.
I always thought that sceners knew just a little bit more about computers than their grandmothers...
