BINKSTER IS COOL!
sucks added on the 2002-03-12 19:32:40 by protectin'myhive
i've just added it... when you managed to download and see it??
"HTTP1.1 STATUS 403 Remote Access to this object forbidden This file cannot be directly accessed from a remote site, but must be linked through the Brinkster Member's site."
and the member sites links to pouet.net it's a paradox ..
(sigh) i just wanted to have it on pouet... anyway
get it from here:

heh. on my computer (p3,geforce-ddr,xp) this thing creates a window, but draws outside it (120 pixels to the left to be precise). even more, it draws all stuff in wicked purple gamma.
ah yeah. i`ve caught an idea. The coder didn't manage to support 32bpp modes, so the intro tries to render everything in 16bpp producing nasty bugs.
your so clever. ever though about reading the nfo ?
anyways, this intro isn't really uptodate :-)

macaw: yes, i've read nfo right after my post. everything is explained there. it is rather difficult though to look through couple of pages of a plain text, just to find something about bugs at the end of the file :)
Hey,. my effects in windows! Hahaha :)
I want to learn how to code in win, is it hard?
Anyways,.. we are very bad!

well it's not very good, but then again, I don't think it's supposed to be.. :)
There is no music in this prod, art is limited to just one picture which itself is more humourous than special. The code consists of very simple 'starter' effects.
The windows port is a quick hack, it only runs in 16bit color. The original DOS version can be found here.
All in all, it's a first(tm), coder(tm) production, created almost entirely at the party place(tm) and at least it is small (only 45Kb). Nice try, Nasty Bugs, we expect more from you soon! :-)

sorry about the 32bit color depth, but my graphics card doesn't support it.
(and to be honest: even if it supported it, i wouldn't coded it, just because i'm too lazy :-P).
But, actually don't expect much from us (ok, expect more than that, but not too much), because our hardware is very old and personnaly i'm not going to buy new stuff for -at least- eight months (or a year...).

Weird. A white screen showing nothing! Why? I am already in 16bit mode. Ok,. they have windows 2000 in here, I don't know. I will get it in a disk, go home to watch..
Why old hardware is an excuse for low quality? 16bit is enough for everyone! (Actually I coded my effects in 256 colors originally!) Win is a bitch,. the computers makes gour-gour-gour-gour-roudoudoudoudou (Hi!) to begin! It doesn't see the CD-Rom in here and I want to burn mame roms for a friend, ugh! It's a bitch! (Ok,. my Amiga is a bitch too! It eats my discetes ;)
Ok,. sorry just exagerated and bitching about PCs... ugh! (IBM = I blame Microsoft)
I forgot to thumb down! (We are very bad :)
i think you can't code
Watch out for my incoming(?) CPC demo ;)
Ok,. it runs in my old computer now! Where is the fullscreen?!?!
Only one thing. It seems slower on Windows. The bouncing trail blobs were running full 70fps at my Pentium200mmx in the DOS version. One conclusion! DOS is better! =)
Something else I remembered!
The window! These are the funniest bugs I have ever encountered!!! Hahaha :)
It's funny BS where you say "There is a bug if you try to close the window while the demo is running (WHY to want to close the window before the demo finishes?)" cause I think that for the case of this crapy demo (Ok,. it's all my fault, I released it in DN2001 ;), this is the first thing our little feelow sceners would like to do :)
Sorry 4 lot's of messages, having fun! =)
Lives up to the name of the group, I guess...
hmm, have you ever heard about using tinyptc? it would have probably solve all your problems here...
tinyptc is a piece of junk too. what's so hard about actually *reading* a software development kit before designing/writing your directdraw implementation?
damnit.
damnit.
yuck.
superplek: the problem is that i don't have the DirectX SDK help files... i figured out how to do that what i've from a tutorial that Nuclear/TheLab has wrote in demo-gr and some info that i found here and there...
I would LOVE to have *AT LEAST the help files of DX7* but i have to download the whole DX8 SDK and it's side is too much for my modem-based connection (which disconnects every 1-2 hours). Soon i'll get ISDN connection (not a big improvement, but here in Greece is the best that i can afford), so i'll try then.
But as i said, i didn't done this port as something serius... just for fun :). I have other, more important, things to do...
Dairos: isn't a serius problem to make 24/32 bit support. Nuclear has in his tutorial two lines of code that definitelly will solve it :)
and anyway, i don't like to use libraries made by others... i prefer to use only my stuff. Else what's the point?

the point is to make art, not libraries
Yes, some very nasty bugs. 'WinAtsou' droppings now litter my screen. Guess I'll have to restart.

Woah...
Is it supposed to go that fast? On my computer, the actual intro lasts < 10 seconds, and I can barely read the text, since it dissapears so fast...
