Nothing extraonrdinary to see here, just a simple starfield with copperbars, a logo and some looped funky music. However I could not imagine watching a new S!P production in 2002! :-)

cool
keep that "spirit"
intro and 188kb does not compute. effects and *school does not compute.

this does not compute!

hmmm.. i like the Daydream-logo and the music is also okay... the style? well, it´s oldskool =) ..but to be an intro the file is still too big [around 100kb]

too bad S!P ain't what it used to be... sorry guys but this is not "back to the roots", it's far less entertaining than the most boring star scroller + copper + message of any reall old skool prod... time to learn a*sin(bx+c) again...

A shallow return to the old-skool stylings of yester-year.

Intro is not soo bad. ;)

You must know thats not easy to pack JPEG decruncher, Jpeg-Picture, 16bit Samples, windows-standart-dlls and all you need in a file under 64kb.

The times when intros where 20kb big are history. Windows enviroment does not allow that. Sometimes there are "64kb intros", but the coders of these intros just use external windows librarys.

Think about it, its true.

>The times when intros where 20kb big are history.<
yeah, nowadays they're 64b big 8}
added on the 2002-02-11 14:15:00 by bhead bhead
fingus: think before you write, and most importantly only write if you're certain.

A "JPEG decruncher" can be found in the Win32API (OleLoadPicture) and 16bit samples can be generated. So this is really crappy no matter what you say.
"The times when intros where 20kb big are history. Windows enviroment does not allow that"

And I thought, the times people think that windows does not allow small intros are history.

@macaw: i´m equal certain like every man here ;-P

Not every coder want to use external decrunchers. Some use their OWN WRITTEN!

@Tomaes:
If you use own routines its always bigger than 20 kb ;-)
added on the 2002-02-11 16:16:15 by fingus fingus
okay, so this intro is cool because it has it's own jpeg loader?
No, but its nice to see that the intro runs without OleLoadPicture. In times where every user have ISDN, DSL or faster connections, no connection care about a file with 180 Kb filesize. And Your Gigabyte Harddisk too ;)

I like people who still are interested in making "crack-intros". That is a lost artform on PC =) Everything make 64kb intros, Demos but nobody want to make good cracktros. How weird!

best regards,
Fingus

if you're going to make a cracktro on a modern PC, then atleast make sure it looks better than a 15 year old c64-crackintro...
this was really ugly (nice logo though)
sucks added on the 2002-02-12 01:19:27 by britelite britelite
it was supposed to look like a 15 years old c64 intro ;-)

you ppl seriously got a problem :-) scene is not here to have a bigger dick then the others, it is here to have fun!!!

and fun is something we got, and you seem to miss ;-)

ReeBoK/S!P - we show you where the crabs overnight ;-)

"scene is not here to have a bigger dick then the others, it is here to have fun"

Hi ReeBok, welcome back! I'm sure you haven't met the TBL and Farbrausch people yet =)

Your comment reeks of the same windows-hate as half a decade before, and it's seriously lame to hide the lack of programmer's skill with the aforementionted.

You could've done this in less that 40k if you put yourself to the test.

Try again some time, and come back later, with a non-commerical one if you'd please.

oh, just to label it.
sucks added on the 2002-02-12 04:56:21 by Shifter Shifter
wtf. fingus|se are you a complete idiot or what? OleLoadPicture is a part of Windows/32 => it will be in all distributions of windows since windows95. It's just like saying using directx or gdi is lame.

(plus your arguments doesn't really answer any of my questions).
I see this discussion is hopeless...

the music is cool

but the rest ... let me laught !
who see oldschool here ?

Fingus : you want to be roots? you want to do hard prods? you want to do prods like we do 14 years ago? ok, it is very hard, so :
- try more than only 2planes if you do a starfield
- use only 8 bits gfxs, and do better translucy than we can see here
- use a good gfxman for your fonts
- code yourself the music player, dont use lame dll
- code in Assembler only, C language is for lamers
- do your own image format, jpg is for lamers
- send your code directly to the chips, OS is for lamers
- do your own compressor, zip is for lamers

ok, you understand what was the fuckin' ancient times ? it was hard, and it was full of shitty prods, but we must do the things like that because nothing was created.
Now we have lots of tools to do art-prods, so i just can say a known sentence for known demo : "the rules have changed"
do good things of today or take an emulator (Try Oric, it's a good platform for brain coders)
and if you want to see good pc cracktro, try pouet.net :) and take a look to very good pc cracktro in less than 20 Kb ;)
and if you want to see lots of beautiful cracktro, try all Amiga stuff

in resume, this prod have no interest except the good music.

Maybe someone could tell me where to find cool routines to release such intros in vb ?
well, just bad...

DarkinDesign: they didn't have vb in 1985 on c64, sorry...

No, i want cracktros on pc, no idiots who say "that is lame, but i cant do it better"
How poor!

I never see 24bit logos on C64 cracktros or Amiga, so what you say??? :-P!

Your agruments are bad.

"- code in Assembler only, C language is for lamers "

*LOL*, i wish you good fun under windows!!

C++ is the leading language. Wake up!

"- do your own image format, jpg is for lamers
- send your code directly to the chips, OS is for lamers
- do your own compressor, zip is for lamers "

Thats no important agruments. Try to find real ones!

"and take a look to very good pc cracktro in less than 20 Kb ;) "

Show me an cracktro with 24bit logo and chiptune in 20kb and i will be quiet forever! =)
