The other one from this compo that told me this isn't a joke. Positively killer.
doesn't work here :(

Sorry, the nfo of the party version is incomplete. Check the one Pouet.

And obviously you can watch Neja online.
Btw I'll make a final version because I'm not happy with the intro, most of the 3D effects can be optimized a bit more and it's awfully slow when the screen is shaking ( I thought it came from the crappy laptop I used at ASM, but no :p ).

Can't make it work in Firefox on Debian Linux. Just distupgraded so should be rather updated. It just loads and then crashes the browser.. ? ??!? !
added on the 2005-08-01 12:12:16 by loaderror loaderror
Technical note:
+ For most of the effects I "simply" generate some 24bits BMP images in realtime and output them.
+ The textures are stored in fullbright. The shaded/fogged variants are generated during the progress bar,
+ All the 3D effects are made in raytracing/casting which means I can do anything with the rendering and the mapping is perspective correct.

loaderror: do you have Flash installed ? If it says something in the JavaScript Console, could you give me the "log" so I can try to fix it for the final version.

I was completely puzzled by the fact that this wasn't in TOP-3. It should have won the compo. The design was very demo-like (there actually was design, which by itself was cool).

p01: I don't know. I think I tried to watch this demo in the past but it didn't started. I am not sure what was the problem. Now it works fine..
added on the 2006-04-08 02:27:09 by Optimus Optimus
optimus: you probably didn't had Flash at the time. There's a tiny .swf to play Djamm's music.

crashes the entire browser in the very beginning. (segmentation fault)

firefox 1.5.0.5 (linux i686), flash player 7,0,63,0
added on the 2006-10-04 13:22:16 by Sverker Sverker
tribão: It also seg fault with FF 1.5.0.7 and Flash 7.0 r63.

With FF 2.0b2 and Flash 7.0 r25 it seems to never finish loading the mp3. But once the progress bar reaches 100%, that bookmarklet starts the demo ... without the music unfortunately.

u_u will try to figure what happens.

finally... there's life under so much uninhabitable waste on this planet called the javascript scene??

for such a heroic act, have my body and soul as a sign of my appreciation!!

(while cubes, flashbang beat syncs and embedded streams are still sexy hot... >P)

A while ago, I thought js prods were a joke. But fear not, for I have seen the light ;-)

One of the best js demos I've seen so far (I think that more recent 4k shooter by the same coder takes the cake.)
rulez added on the 2007-11-16 15:44:29 by Nezbie Nezbie
THANKS! such feedback is a great driving force! I have lots of ideas to explore for my next JS demo and just need the kick to get started.

Actually I wrote most of that 4k js shooter in 2002-2004, and optimized it from 5k to 4k in 2007. It's amazing how you can always size optimize something.

Mindblowing stuff :). I appreciate that it's more about than just proving it's possible to code an actual demo in JS, it actually has style and design.
Really inspiring, I'm itching to try code some simple effects myself in JS (coming from a background as a webcoder).

Impressive! Left me wondering "how did you do this?" a few times :)

I'd love to see another full-length demo by ribbon, because this left me longing for more.

The "flashes" seem to be out of sync in ff3, by the way.
added on the 2008-06-17 21:42:16 by stijn stijn
The synchs were done using the good 'ole SPACE BAR synch. 2000 tool. So they are out of synch pretty much everywhere :p

Thanks. I really want to make a new demo in JavaScript.
