!!! AMIGA RULEZ !!!
ah mais tu sors toi !
The biggest Atari ST demo so far. Some manage to equal it in size, but not one beat it. The quality is not so great though... :'(
It's allright, it's ok ...
Yeeah yeah YEAH !!
Mjj RuLeZ !!!!

Mjj RuLeZ !!!!
Please note that there is a version of the Phaleon demo cracked by Leonard (thanks !) that works fine using the emulators Saint and Steem. Cool, no ?
damn huge shit! some nice borderkilling stuff, some screens with ok 3d for it's time (pre-synergy ;)). there are some simple screens but most are good. respect for putting all this toghether!
huge!
demo culte =)
Except for the megacool beast menu, the Illusion STE screen is the highlight of this demo..:-) Just cool.
Zweckform said it.
what a project, it must have taken years to collect all those contributions.. the most of the screens were lala though, but the intro is still so cool!
505: Well, the project was originaly started by the Replicants not long after the release of the Union Demo... that says long about how old it is :)
Oldests screens are the one from Foxx and Aenigmatica, and obviously they are not the worst :-/
We could (should) have done a two (eventually 3) disks demos, and just my removing the lame screens the overal would have been a lot better. But well, most of these screens were made by groups in which we had friends... we tried anyway to "up" a bit the quality (ex: the original screen from Bananafishbones didn't had overscan in the scroller...) and MIT has been working for weeks fixing bugs in other people code (you can't imagine the number of demos that called XBios functions for changing screen adress, call random, or disable interuptions, ...) in the end he decided to implement a basic Xbios in the Phaleon loader, with all the various Xbios and gemdos functions: getkey, setscreen, vsync, random, setpal...
Of course during the course of development, we had a lot of variants of screens, because some people changed nicknames, announced they were working on their own demo (already released since then), ... we also lost some screens: the "Canibalistic def orgy" screen by TLB in the Dark Side of the Spoon was originaly planned for the Phaleon, but with time passing they wanted to get it released...
Memories, memories...
Zweckform: Happy that you like the STE screen. It has been a real battle to get it in the demo, because nobody else in Next believed that we should "waste" some disc space for some screen that nobody would watched (because suposedly no one had STE)... looks like they were wrong :)

thump up for the main menu
Dbug: yeah...one guy had an STE..:)
Now that was a hyped up MEGAdemo :)
A lot of very average screens, some good ones (particularly the illusion STE screen) and a nice SOTB-like main menu.
New screenshot added btw ;)

Huge in quantity mostly average in quality.
Illusion really rocks. Thumb up for the effort alone!

for people using an emulator, use this patched disk instead of the original disk 1:

Keops: why is it needed to patch atari demos for emulators? i always wondered about that. :)
There is no need usually, except when they have a fancy protection emulators don't like.
In this particular case, the protection routine was a variant of the one used in AudioSculpture Soundtracker. It was made by some quite good coders and crackers, and basicaly uses a lot of methods together: Screen synchronized decryption from data coming from a reprogrammed keyboard processor :)
Since no ST emulator bothered about emulating the keyboard hardware, the protection does not work.

Simply R0x!
I can't believe I didn't raised my thumb before. O_O
demo comme j'aime Yeahhhhhhhh
"Screen synchronized decryption from data coming from a reprogrammed keyboard processor"
How leet :)

mytic prod !!!
Since I can understand that people don't necessarily have the will or time to dig through the four floppies, I updated my webpage about Phaleon with screenshots (some animated) of all the screens of the demo, sorted by group name:

Have fun, and Happy new year !!!!

Rulez for the size and the number of included screens, would get piggie for the quality...
Just GIGANTIC and never beaten in size!
great
Huge demo so much awaited! I spend hours back then tonly to try to see everything... Lots of different styles (sometimes very old stuff...).
A massive production.
Oups, missed to thumb this one, sorry Dbug :)
Still digging in my floppies, managed to find some more source code, this time it is the source of the fast menu:
