🎨 Can anything be more classic than a rainbow in the PAL palette of the Atari XL/XE? In this demo, we return to the absolute basics — pure rainbow magic and a vertical scroll just like in the good old days. All of it built upon the mighty powers of Player-Missile graphics — Atari’s own take on sprites.

🌈 A handful of GTIA registers, a short display list, and some color play every few scanlines — and the screen bursts into color. Add a vertical scroll on PMGs (Player-Missile Graphics), gliding smoothly to the beat of a simple yet heartfelt SID-style POKEY music loop. Minimalism meets spectacle — because beauty lives in limitations!

🕹️ For everyone who once stared at a 130XE screen and dreamed of making their own demo — this is a tribute to your imagination.

Lol ; Looks like IA models don't have a good understanding of oldschool machines. There 's probably not enough training data available for general models to be accurate. It didn't catch that the platform is an Atari 2600.

Good try though ; )

Very nice classic demo. But it looks like it could fit into 4K too. ;)

BTW: The startup jump in 2nd bank doesn't work. Enable developer settings in Stella and you will notice it.

Nice catch. I fixed the jump to 2nd bank on the v1.4 version. Interestingly enough, the intro was consistently running on my VCS. That may be due to how the harmony cartridge does the setup before running the actual intro.

I could probably have scrapped some data to make it fit in 4K (the program currently weights 4591 bytes), but I like it the way it is ; )
