Yeah, first demo ever, working solo is not always easy to go high-end quality.

Well done - I love the last 3d part especially! It's been impressive to see this demo evolve, your dedication and talent made it happen <3

Thanks 🙏🏻 Yes it is, 2nd production. I wanted to do something for the Amiga Vampire and use some framework that ease the creation of a demo (3D + sprites), moslty because I wanted to push it out fast something, but still, took me 7 months coding solo!. 🤓

Pretty impressive for a first C demo, keep going! Nice logo and tune too.

30 fps only ?
Also, what does this have to do with Amiga PPC ?

Nice! Like the pixels.

Ok, as far as I understand this is basically a first demo, it could be much better but every firstie has to suck to some degree.
What really made it hard to watch (in my opinion) is that everything was so terribly slow-paced.
And "posing" with 800 gouraud triangles on a platform that's basically a 68060 on steroids was rather ridiculous.
The bouncing balls would probably work much better with a simple drop-shadow on the floor and the checkerboard should move.
Making the balls fall down after the checkerboard dissolved was a nice touch, though.
Probably not a very motivational comment but I hope this was still a bit constructive.

Well, there is no category for the 080 Vampire, so I had to set as PPC/RTG

Yeah well, it took me longer to learn C and the libraries to use, also I did solo all the demo (except the msx).
Slow paced because this is not a demo for "demoscene compo" but more like a demo tech to show in the stands, so it has to be slow.
For 800 tris at 30fps was a good achievement for the 080, more was not possible to push. I dunno on 060 if the performances are the same or better.
The checkerboard will be updated in the next iteration, to be a plane with UV maps, with proper shadows on each balls (that was already in the todo list). This is a w.i.p. demo tech, is more done for the community of Apollo Vampire 080.
Thanks for the critics, I always accept and is nice to improve when is possible. 😎

For the category of Vampires prods, i've settled to "Amiga AGA + Wild" which is much closer than "Amiga PPC".

I have no experience with a Vampire but I believe the "68080" CPU runs at least twice as fast as a common 68060. I was also under the impression, that you're doing software rendering but this "Maggie"-thing seems to be a hardware rasterizer and the "mag..."-API you are using looks somewhat OpenGLish.
That's all rather interesting but also a bit disappointing if this already shows the performance limits of that chip.

Ok, went ahead and modified the platform type (of all apollo vampire prods as well).

Shows off the Vampire's true abilities.. lol. overhyped junk. But, if you had fun making this.. thats what matters, I guess.

Well, Im telling you the truth, you are right, I should show off the "true abilities", but unfortunately I need a bit more time to go into with more math skills with Assembly, and secondly, the cores (firmwares) that the Vampire is based on, are changing often and they are always in a broken alpha state, so it does not truly give you the positive push to create something unique because the constant change and unstability of the system architecture they offer.
I feel perfectly what you wrote, and I do not feel it in any sort or way as an insult or else.

Well, I was a bit surprised myself as well of the results with this amount of tris and rendering specs, this is because I had to lock at 30fps.
It is opengl-ish, infact, the first part (bouncing balls), using the hardware 3d engine, meanwhile the other 3d parts are infact software render.
The cores, unfortunately are changing constantly and always in a alpha unstable state, this is at the end more of an experiment on a experimental prototype machine. Cross fingers in the future they will decide to "solidify" their project stopping to change, and break, stuff.
