everyone's own turf is 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 "a bit different" innit... -
That's true, and participating helps, but you can accumulate historical knowledge - and an understanding of aesthetics - even without participating. I'm not saying we should value any random outburst, but we shouldn't use "so where's your demo" to measure that either. -
i'd like to emphasize: my opinions on demos are not somehow validated or more correct since i started more actively working on my own productions -
To paraphrase Eisenhower: opinions are useless but forming opinions is indispensable. -
"Do not be elated by the applause of the multitude; that of artists is of greater value." -
Seconding noby so much here. I coded my first demo less than a year ago and I don't recall having any significant shift in my perception on others' demos. Am I still wrong, as a creator, or have I been retroactively validated, as a member of the audience? -
Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one. -

Opinion in german is "Meinung" which can be understood as "mine". Using a wordplay other's opinions are "Anderungen" as in "others". You have your "Meinung". Everyone else has their "Anderung". This concept really helped me to digest other people's angle on any topic. It's THEIR pov. -

If they can explain WHY, do listen. Understand their angle. No need to compete who is right or wrong. Do not bend yourself or satisfy their needs, either. Tolerating their pov (instead of fighting it) helps you understand and widens your horizon. (also fuckings to spam protection) -
what does "Nein." mean? -
Ja. -
@jobe, there are different kinds of opinions. Some opinions absolutely deserve to be dismissed due to the the people voicing them having no clue. -

introspec, oh definitely. I won't respect everyone's opinion. I just don't think that not having made a demo is a good measure of that. Otherwise, the vast majority of people would have no say about video games, movies etc. -
I do not really dispute what you said. But I also know that "never having made a proper demo" is a surprisingly good heuristic for not having a clue, even if it is not always true (obviously). -
Seriously but. -
