making demos to please others is pathetic anyway. express yourself and do not ingratiate, make art, fuck what others think. those others arent you (and probably narrowminded cunts at it)! - yeah, why we try to please others so much... oh wait.. maybe because that's all we can really get here for our efforts ;P
- Heck I used a packaged browser-lite with a lowres video of a laser cutter put to music someone else already wrote and submitted it to a compo. I certainly didn't care about the votes I was going to get in return. (It did get some thumbs on Pouet, to my surprise :)

What is wrong with pleasing others? - Nothing. People are just pointing out that if people did stuff only because of what they thought others might feel in return, they probably wouldn't get very far.

I don't care people judging my demos, I care about people judging my expertise. - Deus: yeah, because we coders... but in reality all you can get from so called community is "likes" and maybe some eternal respect if you are trying really hard. So yeah, pleasing others is the only choice we have, isn't it?
