agreed. -
true. and also when the code is optimized. still that does not change that feeling when you don't get it :) -
I have to admit I even have my wtf moments after reading my own code after some weeks :), so I've become pretty liberal with comments. Doesn't hurt... -
sensenstahl: i have seen code i never completely understood myself. i was just trolling! ;) code can be lovely when designed well, some ppl just dont get that fact! ;) -
You solve a problem, and produce beautiful, understandable code. Then you optimise and produce a big ugly chunk of WTF. Keep the original code in comments ;) -
I don't think pretty code and good code are oppose to eachother -
it all depends, good optimizations can yield very unreadable code, especially for others which try to interpret it later. I can only say: Comments on almost every line, even multiple-line-comments on one single line of code, thats the way to go! And no: this ain´t time spent on bullshit, unless you´´ll -
yep, it does depend. :) -
be the only one ever seeing it! Even then comments make a lot of sense, if its you trying to interpret it later! ;) psonice: Suberb! Having the readable code as comment is a good way to go i say! -
good programmers never produce big ugly chunks of WTF ! -
depends again if they did it for themselves (deoscene) or for a team! If for a team you´re right! some of my demo-codes looked and felt like a big mess of WTF for sure! :D -
yeah, I have some fugly democode too -
thats mostly due to demos being finished in burst-mode...add this here, that there, make a new routine for this fast, deadline approaching, etc., so this is all ok! i hate getting WTF-code in a team, where its obvious the coder doesnt like his job and so every other coder in his company has to bath it -
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) -
out! while him/her isn´t responsible anymore, has done his/her job! :& Such people need to realize they should change their job! -
matsumoto outo! -
hArDy: less talk, more tweaking. I expect some serious ass-kicking entries :) -
mittwoch -
gertrude: have you ever had to REALLY optimise something, literally squeezing every last cycle from the hardware? When you do that, often the code gets ugly. Fast, but ugly :) -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQiArodIz1k :) -
bier und grillieren ftw -
unicode is promising, onliner is ugly -
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) -
kiffen ist billiger als rauchen. steig um! jetzt! -
yes! nice unicode
