ps, I agree that image downscaling would be nice to preserve the layout - but I would avoid upscaling -
Is it really so hard to only scale down images that are too big and leave the small ones? :P -
It works like that in ff3, but not in opera (and some IE versions, I guess) -
ain't there a max-width and max-height on images already ? -
frost: if all browsers followed css standards it wouldnt be. im trying to avoid javascript, hotlinking doesnt simplify the issue either.. :S could really use some pro help.. p01!! -
image upscaling sucks. -

IE recognizes "_<cssprop>", like "_width: 100%", to overwrite CSS properties for the other browsers. -
p01: "max-width: 95%; max-width: -moz-max-content; width: 100%;" but it's b0rking slightly on everything else besides ff3 -
Who use IE anyway? -
WFM in opera 9.6 pbly in 9.5 too, Chrome, Safari 4 pbly 3 too, FF 3. But NOT in IE8b2 -
