It is quite good. Pretty much what I would've hoped from a Tool album. - ^I agree! I love it and it's all I expected from them. Worth waiting 13 years for :)

Listened to it, found it actually pretty generic, but i never have been a fan of Tool. - your mother is pretty generic

- well, the synthy parts are indeed not the strong point of the album, also the interludes, could've done without. still, i'd love to hear you do a 'generic' tool riff on a guitar :)

- Will do. Constantly. Nevertheless: Slipknot did it, NIN constantly does it, i personally expected more. Therefore generic is not too far off.

- Absolutely. That is why my understanding rotates around one band and one band only. :-)
- although the new Tool album sounds very much like a continuation of 10000 days, their odd time signatures (like e.g. Meshuggah) and in case of Tool also the guitar fingering are a lot harder than it seems to play, especially for DAW people who don't touch real instruments. so generic my ass :)
- Depends on where you locate your ass. On the floor you will most certainly stick with a multiple of 2 Kackstelzen and if you want to aim for critics appraisal, the Bohlen-Diktat will sooner or later bite you in the neck, but i personally think there is way more unexplored headroom.

I've always found Tool ... not very good, but then again, guitars will usually ruin anything :)
