- barock, it sounds pretty damn good if you got over 2000 downloads in just a few days for a scene production that's not a demo - congratulations!
so what exactly makes you think people would prefer a html site and it's not worth doing a second issue??! I don't get it... - rulezadded on the 2002-08-25 15:21:28
- demo MS-Dos/gus the good, the bad & the ugly by Surprise!Productions [web]
- yeah, pretty much as oldschool as you can get on PC and not suck. (kind of strange sentence, that)
GBU is overall a nice watch; long, really effects focused, a soundtrack that keeps it going, and just look at the sheer drabness of those colours - these days everything is so fucking shiny...
seems like the party ranking is missing: this got 2nd at tp3. the compo was won by Untitled by Dust, which to my recollection is much shorter and pretty boring, but has a Doom part that was impressive in that day & age. goes to show that gamer voting at big parties isn't anything new.
I wish this were on the DemoDVD, but it just didn't get enough votes against the likes of 2nd Reality and Crystal Dream 2... - rulezadded on the 2002-08-20 23:46:09
- demo Windows Amour by Orion [web]
- har har :) starts out like a parody of orion's old kitschtravagantic 3d flythrough epics like nightfall or purple, ends up completely warm&fuzzy. I enjoyed this, orion c'est les funny :)
some quibbles:
1) get a dictionary guys - "amour is pneu" isn't exactly english, and it's annoying for those who don't read french
2) at 17 megs, you could make this a prerendered anim as mpeg4... :/ - isokadded on the 2002-08-18 17:59:42
- demo Windows Music influence by Lunix
- 1993 gabber flashback?
the music gets on my nerves, but it's not so unbearable in this context as I really enjoyed the demo overall. maybe I just haven't been getting my fix of frantic tekknodemos in the past years :) - rulezadded on the 2002-08-18 17:45:38

- demo Windows Limbo win32 by Byterapers [web] & Doomsday
- the pocketpc doesn't quite seem to be the result of any particular handheld design effort, but simply an old pc shrunk down. so I guess it's logical that this is a recycled 1996-97 pc demo. it sure looks like some of those textures were lifted straight from boost, and not much else seems to have changed either :)
so it's certainly not bad, but I just can't get excited about this either. - isokadded on the 2002-08-11 22:58:48
- demo Windows Liquid... Wen? by Haujobb
- ok, I guess I’ll comment on this too, now that I’ve finally had the chance to watch it.
part 1 is something of a letdown, to be honest. it seems like more of the same old same old. blobs, tentacles, additive layers - screen after screen, absent-mindedly stuck together. there's one screen that looks uncannily like tour by pulse. that was 4 years ago... it’s all still pretty, it always was, but by now it feels like drugged old elvis performing to a lunch crowd in las vegas.
but then comes part 2, and it’s from a completely different planet. this is easily the best haujobb demo ever. the familiar visual style is updated in interesting ways, it flows so much better than the sedated style of part 1, the music kicks ass, and finally the nice coded effects really enhance the overall look&feel (I hope the days of 3d scene player slideshows are gone for good). it’s a great demo.
and really, anyone who thinks this kind of demo is trivial to make is full of shit. let’s not forget that the haujobb demo style as we know it is essentially a one-man show. any artist gets self-derivative at some point before moving forward. besides, it’s not like visualice needs to care about my opinion or anybody else’s who’s vain enough to spout their judgements here on pouet - winning 1st prize at tp and asm in row is achievement enough, he can just laugh all the way to the bank so to speak :)
yep, seems like the news of elvis’s death was quite premature :)
(btw, no hard feelings about the harsh part 1 comments I hope, I was going for the right litterary effect you know... ;)) - rulezadded on the 2002-08-11 19:56:27
