A plea for a tune (4klang?)

category: music [glöplog]
I was just wondering if anyone had a tune I could use for my little intro to be released at Sundown at the weekend please? I'm not in a group at the moment, so don't have a musician to call upon unfortunately. I've plugged in an old 4klang tune from SQNY while developing, but would like to release it with a new tune if possible. I'm open to using a different format if needed, but 4klang would make my life much easier. My email address is raizor [at] gmail.com if you wish to mail me.

Thanks very much

If I had a bit more time I'd love to help you out.

post on Sundown facebook page, I reckon there might be a musician willing to help out there before or during the first stages of the party..

Indeed, I have left it a little late. I was hoping someone had one lying around. Will give the Facebook page a try. Thanks.

@phobium, thanks. Frequently on the lookout for tunes, so if you ever have one you want to throw my way, I'll make something to go with it :)

If someone can provide me a couple of instruments, I'd be glad to give it a shot. So - if someone shoots a config-file (or what the instrument/preset files are called) with a couple of nice presets to punqtured at fnuque dot dk, and you could drop a hint on what genre/mood you need and perhaps a couple of screenshots, required duration as well as number of sections/scenes, I should be able to have something ready for you by friday evening...

But primarily - I need instruments before I can offer my help...

I think 4klang comes with a selection of instruments. Tried these?
Ah - that'd make things easier indeed! But using default presets won't exactly qualify the intro for any awards, I'm sure :-p But it's still better than nothing at all, so at least it'll give me possibility to start working as soon as I get home from work tonight ;-)

Oh I just hope my wife hasn't planned (often referred to as "I thought we agreed that...") anything important tonigt :-D

Yeah, they are probably overused, but I guess for raizor it's more like "anything goes" right now? :)
or use the SQNY one and call it a tribute! ;)
Perhaps if I just cut off one corner and use that, and nobody would notice ... :-p

Be sure to include a bubbly patch in your tune!
we all did the *open someone else's song* *delete pattern data* *few minutes of tracking* *yay, new tune!* so, why fucking care? :D
@Punqtured, that would be most cool, thanks :)

4klang does come with a few sample tunes and each of these contains a bank of patches to go with it (.4kp files). The instruments can be imported/exported individually (as .4ki files) too.

I'll zip up the 4ki and 4kp files I have here and the example songs and mail them to you shortly along with some descriptions and timings.

Appreciate the assistance very much :)

No problem, but there's no guarantee of the quality of the outcome! It'll be my first with 4klang. I've done a couple with Lonnies' 4k synth and quite a few with our own for 64k intros and executable music compos, so unless you specifically want experimental jazz, I'm sure you'll end up with at least a decent track ;)

you could also add some scenebubbles.

@Punqtured, mail sent requesting experimental jazz tune at 800 bpm. Thanks again :)

dont forget to rtfm :)

No time to rtfm - I'll have to go on gut feeling.

I'm fighting with wrapping my mind around the aritmetic. If you're not a programmer, those make absolutely no sense ... I understand the explanations of each operation, but I simply have no clue what it does to my sound :-D

A quick head up on this synth and the tune needed. How many instruments and unique tracks do you think there'll be room for, raizor_? Wouldn't want you to cut down on anything because I blatantly stole all your bytes ;-)

Well .. that module and of course the way signal is routed ;) The order needed to have LFOs controll various stuff requires those store-thingies ... it's going to have to be a quick brush of it's extensive features, I'm afraid. Still have high hopes of getting there and with a decent result. Afterall, it IS a nice sounding synth ;)
