No, contests like this measure how willing artists are to generate traffic for someone else's website.

So i clicked on the link. And expected to see the work i was supposed to vote for. But... "You've voted for every match-up for this piece of art in this round." ...did i just vote for your piece without seeing it?

mr. Doob, as already stated above, contest like this doesn't really meter how good the artwork is but how well artists can get people to vote for them.

Stated where?

The same van Gogh that refused to sell his paintings, and turned down an exhibition in Paris? :D

Aww, stop the whining everyone. This is just real world namevoting. Happens all the time on the scene too ;-)

Besides - I actually find it extremely wonderful to get to vote for all the other pieces of art as well. I have no technical insight or skills in fine arts whatsoever, but I think it's refreshing that my opinion still counts.

So stop all the whining and vote - for Nosfe or not - but do yourself a favour and check it out. It's definately worth it!

People that waste their time and even more the people that ask others to waste their time for them.

I think I've worked too long on advertising ;)

So now give nosfe his chance to get a job in advertising ;)

looked at your entry (and the other ones as well), and maybe you should get a regular job, since you need a shitload of traffic to win...

okay .. after looking through all of them, I was a bit to harsh, damn there was a lot of supercrap in between, some people could really use their time doing something else that making "art"
added on the 2010-11-24 23:58:38 by dwarf dwarf
dwarf, the amount of people voting at this competition is really really low actually.

Punqtured: You do realise that by voting for the other artists is like stealing money from Nosfe, right?

Spoken like an artist. ;)

Not to say contests like these are a cop-out on your part, but what role does the art play, exactly? Sounds like you might as well be asking everyone you know to vote for a photo of your cat.

Well, the solution to the rent problem is... joining the revolution.

After the revolution, there will be no more such thing as "rent" or "full-time work". Every artist will once again have the time and the means to develop his or her creativity. Well, maybe he'll build a house for himself first (it's gonna be easy - and free), and then he starts to get into art. :)

♥: As I understand the contest, each piece of art is rated only against it's direct oponent. Even if I'm mistaken, I'd still vote in the other faceoffs. People put effort into making something that either mean something to them or aims at pleasing the viewer's eye.

All creativity deserves recognition - so don't forget to vote in the music compos! :-D

Hmm, I'm not very good at building houses though. Would it be okay if I found someone else to build my house, and did him some coding or music or something in return? We could even have some kind of system of passing tokens around, to keep track of who's done stuff for who.
