Help with Bvh animations in blender (or otherwise)

Animators, I need your help. I know there must be a way to link the .bvh to a mesh in a program like Blender and then render the animation. I want to do that. But how do you do it.

In Blender (utterly awful interface btw, what were they thinking) you can import both but how do you link one with the other... Any ideas?

Add armature modifier and write in the Obj field, the armature obj name.

Or select the mesh (while pressing shift for multiple selection) and then the armature obj, press Control + P > Armature > and the skinning generation option
