Assembly 03 - Crippled Releasefiles

category: general [glöplog]
the zips should be: <party>_<year>_<rank>_<group>_<title>.zip the year must be in 4 numbers, then zipped into multiple archives followed by rar and/or ace on top of that, lastly added at isonews as a regular release, at the end of that all compo's rar's are added to a single rar-series and distributed using the usual warez trade routes. is there any other way?

Actually, having all releases from a party in a single archive would be good. Would save me a lot of time going through the results list and downloading everything separately.

Is it possible to do? I know the space required would be too much, but I think the rar could be created when it was needed, using store option instead of compress, and streamed to the end user as it's created.

i think they should have added some nude pics of DiamonDie to every release instead of stripping the info files :)

prefixing the filenames with the rank would be a great improvment

Yeah, I second sigge. That way, the files would not be released before the results are known, and all the problems of lamers adding prods here with 'assumed' rankings would be avoided. I think that's a good idea for all parties.

i agree with 8:3 filesnames etc and why they exist, why they are still valid, but i mean whats the point in moaning when its done, what the fact does it matter. Most files i receive off Usenet are completly useless to me in their millions because they have 8:3 names. At the end of the day most things nowadays ARN'T gonna be recognisable easily by 8:3 names. NOTE: anyone who still says "lamer" in electronic or vocial communication needs their testicals burnt off. [see above] Easy. hf.
