Is there a way to convert SCL files to TAP? TAP files are the only way I have to run things on the real thing.

Should be possible as long as it's single filed stuff.
Don't ask me how exactly tho, as I've only done it the other way around.

I'm just asking because I don't know what the SCL files are. If they contain images that are read by the demo then you can't convert it to TAP, for example.

scl files are images of tr-dos discs. tr-dos is wide spread among russian zx spectrum clones. to know is it easy or not to convert one particular demo from scl to tap you should examine demo loader. to do that, learn zx spectrum basic at least a bit. if demo loads file after file from basic loader, then converting is very simple, if loading is done in machine code with some freaky routines, then you should learn assembler and spend a lot of time on that in some cases.

btw, you can explore contents of scl files using either plugins for total commander http://trd.speccy.cz/pcutilz/INSCLTRD.ZIP or spectrum navigator http://trd.speccy.cz/pcutilz/SN_114.ZIP

maybe some other good tools exist, but i used those. and there is no universal way to do those conversions automatically. so, you better upgrade to tr-dos ;)

Ok, thanks. I was hoping for an existing tool to do it when possible. :)
